Hi all
I am thinking of doing this some time this year and I read through some of the posts but noticed most people seem to do guided tours. I have family/friends in both countries so would like to ride from one end to the other. Has anyone done this or a similar route? I am thinking of taking my road bike, is this convenient? I understand the entry to Slovenia has some steep hills. Any advice will be appreciated.
Andrea

Have only been to slovenia briefly, was about the best 3 days of my 2 month trip to europe though. Am planning on going back next year, can't wait!
I guess the answer to your questions would all depend on where in italy you were starting and where in slovenia you were hoping to end up.
And how big is too big when it comes to hills.
In the west of slovenia there's a pretty high alpine region (great WWI museum in Korbarid), but if you stick to the coast you can probably avoid them.
this link might be useful in gaging how big the hills your intended route are:
