I've come to this late, but I usually plug the Uno Ghia knicks that I wear, so here goes. They're not that expensive, fit and wear well, and are well padded. Get the 'sumpremo' ones with the orange insert, rather than the basic ones with the blue 'club' insert - it's worth the extra ten bucks.

Inside. Outside if you want to add some warmth, but just don't have it on the very outside. Real fred material.peter wrote:Quick question: do you supposed to wear the bib inside or outside (i.e. cover with another top)?

What's the label say? I wouldn't put lycra materials any where near a top-loading agitator-type machine (too rough). Front-loader on delicate cycle with minimal detergent or woolwash for my gear after a longer, sweaty ride, or rinse in the shower after shorter rides. Drip-dry in shade. Do not wring. Chamois creme for longer rides.peter wrote:Can it be machine washed?
If they turn out to be good value for money knicks, get a second pair....
Oh, and you can wear a breathable under-t-shirt with them (with a jersey over), just not a daggy, baggy t-shirt!

Others have answered but I'll throw in my opinion too.peter wrote:Can it be machine washed?
I wash all my synthetic bike gear in the machine (top loader), delicate cycle, using a green choice detergent. Hasn't damaged anything or faded anything over the course of a year.
Don't use enzyme based detergents though as the enzymes that make them work can attack synthetic fibres and cause the clothing to wear out very quickly.
The most damage I've done to my bike gear has been from the legs rubbing on the velcro on the seat bag, so make sure that's tucked in out of the way.

Has anyone used the Cell knicks and jerseys? What are they like in terms of durability, etc? I have bought a few different brands from Torpedo 7 and so far they're all OK but less than 3 months old (and with 5 pairs of knicks and 6 jerseys there's a good rotation to ensure no one items gets heaps of wear).
