Noticed that there were detour signs at Excalibur Way Carine, diverting shared path traffic along Excalibur Way-Duffay Way-Beach Rd, on the way home tonight
Massive big earth mover located outside the house next to the PSP (parked right on their front yard), so maybe some significant improvements may be occuring in this location.
For those who don't use this area, it is very narrow section:
previously reported on ACII.
Would be nice that this area is improved and hopefully this is why the path is currently closed.
Yep, a surprise for me too! My take however is that the house on the corner is having a retaining wall built and they have closed the psp so that the heavy equipment doesn't run over us. It would be nice to see improvement but I won't be holding my breath.
As an aside, does anyone know whether you need a permit/approval from Council to obstruct a footpath with construction plant/trucks etc?
I know you certainly need a permit to block off road lanes/area if you aren't legally allowed to park there but am not sure about paths.
You certainly do......however most (roughly translated as all ) trades don't bother or don't even know.
Spoke to the builder this morning, who also confirmed they were putting up a wall:
He indicated that the owners of the corner house had purchased the vacant land from the government for a 'steal' and were now extending their backyard.
If you use Stirling's Maps, you can see that No 17 Excalibur Way
is where the shared path is located, and where the wall is being built. How much do you want to bet that No. 17 Excalibur Way is owned by MainRoads, and if it has been 'sold' as per the builder (or potentially sub-divided), this is disappointing as we are now going to get additional length of wall located very close to the shared path.

However, in the past, private, utilities (Telstra/Western Power), state government and local government have all closed off sections of the Northern PSP with no notice, no diversion and failed to rectify when pointed out that they were causing an issue.
Telstra Pit Hole - 5 months to get this one resolved - it was a raised pithole due to potentially the large trucks backing out of the Perth depot - the pithole today is damaged again, even though it has been reported to MainRoads/Telstra/Perth, that is the trucks for the depot causing the issue
Princeton Estate, Stirling - developers took out the PSP for 9 months back in 2008. Riding along one day, and large digger moving dirt next to the PSP (less than 1m away), that afternoon, no PSP.
If it is the case that the lot has been sold, I hope that MainRoad's uses the funds to correct the issues in the PSP in the area.
I reported this location to City of Stirling earlier this year, as development at this location was blocking line of sight for traffic using the PSP:
CoS agreed and the sand was moved in a matter of days, and two panel of fencing came down mid-March 2013:
However, the property has now been sub-divided (and is on the market), so eventually another house will be built with a drive way meters away from the PSP exit/entrance. Shouldn't there be local/state laws preventing building of drive ways next to PSP entrances/exists, there are restrictions for road corners?
The CoS has also installed a footpath, which now intersects with the PSP. Not trying to stop people walking on the PSP, in particular that the Warwick train station is so close, but this area is poor (see previous shots), and shouldn't there be additional development on the PSP to cater for this additional foot traffic?
So two steps forwards, two steps backwards.
