Qld weather venting postsRe: Qld weather venting postsI blame BOM for being useless more than anything. Showers. Shower or Two. Possible Showers. Morning showers. I mean geez if there is a going to be cloud in the sky they will just say something with showers, which probably ends up being a blue sky clear day.
Qld weather venting postsI'm waiting for the venting to begin.
Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Mondays forecast was for gale force winds, heavy rain & low temperatures from Thursday onwards. One out of 3 aint bad, it's f--f--f-- cold. Last edited by ZepinAtor on Thu Jun 09, 2011 6:23 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Qld weather venting posts
I second that - it was a damn sight warmer at 6am this morning than what it is now. I shudder to think what it will be like tomorrow morning. On the bright side - I'm not in Stanthorpe. It was only 4C there at 5pm this afternoon. 1987 Colnago Master Piu | 1994 Trek OCLV Carbon | 2007 Giant Yukon | 2011 Trek 7.3 FX WSD
Qld weather venting postsHi,
Are you sure it's cold? Wife and I went for our ride this morning and it was freezing, thought our finger tips were going to drop off, what makes it worse is that it's only her 2nd ride back after her broken ankle healing up enough for walking etc so the rides are fairly slow with a few stops on top of the hills. It was great to get home and have a hot shower. Cheers
Re: Qld weather venting postsI dunno... I just rode home and it's actually only 1deg cooler than when I left this morning at 5am. Granted it's the first time I've ever worn knee warmers in the afternoon... but the back of the jersey is wet with sweat...
I'm off to the mountain at 5 tomorrow.. I think that might be a test of my cold weather gear. Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting postsI'm almost happy to have a flu/cold so not able to ride, its damn cold at the moment, not that I wouldn't ride normally in this weather, but I cannot risk getting any sicker.

I'll give you a wave on the way past. I'd join in & keep you company, but it's a rest day for me tomorrow. hehe Gas propulsion.......it's natural don't fight it.
Re: Qld weather venting postsA long weekend and it's meant to rain
I can tolerate riding in the rain when it's 25-30 degrees, but not in 8-17 degrees...who stole our sunshine and the mild winter weather that is supposed to be here?? Lisa

Re: Qld weather venting postsStandard jersey with wind jacket for me but I tend to push it hard to warm up. Probably why I posted my quickest commute ever going home just to keep warm. Decided to ride up to Mt Toohey as an extra boost on my way home.
Must admit quite cold starting off. Cheers Dave ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Very sensible decision there. Clearly the wise thing to do. In fact even when you think you're better you're probably well advised to give it another few days. Oh and I just overtook you in the ACF commuter challenge

Re: Qld weather venting posts
You're not kidding. You need to do about 500km every week next month to catch up to your goal. I don't know how you live with yourself Now on a brighter note, the sun is shinning, the birds are chirping & the sky is a nice shade of blue. Think I'll get out the chainsaw & do my thing for the environment by removing that big ugly hard wood stump in the yard & topping up the fire. Gas propulsion.......it's natural don't fight it.
Qld weather venting postsMeh... It was a bit chillily I'll admit. However, the only shivering I did was just as I left home, and then at the garage afterwards! I actually had to unzip my jersey for cooling going up the hill.

Re: Qld weather venting postsNice weather for cycling in brissie this morning, well nice with a head warmer on.
But now that I'm home again it's damn cold. And might get worse tomorrow. Might have to go under the house and see if I can find that heater that I think is hiding somewhere... Recent Favorite rides:

Re: Qld weather venting posts
Yeah, studies and illness have taken their toll on my 10k year goal, not sure I'll even make 6k this year. Wish I still had my fireplace at home, really missing it ATM. Life is not about waiting for the rain to pass.....it's about learning to dance (or ride) in the rain.

Re: Qld weather venting posts
It was a wee bit chilly heading out, but not so bad once I got going. Even flogging myself uphill I didn't get hot enough to take my warmers off - and I'm glad I bought some full fingered gloves. Still nice even now, though a little gloomy (and the rain is closing in on the radar).
Re: Qld weather venting postsCold and wet here - ranging between drizzle and light showers.

Re: Qld weather venting posts
Yes, that's cold, even by southern standards that's a sit by the fire day!! I'm missing my combustion fire that I had back in Adelaide right now....thank goodness for the reverse cycle air Here's hoping the rain passes quickly and the sun returns! Lisa
Qld weather venting postsJust as bad out here in the country today. Cold wet and miserable. Hoping it stops by the morning so I can get out early for my weekly zipp down the highway.
Cheers
Re: Qld weather venting postsJust when one gets ahead......................its back, wet cold, grey. I'am too sore to ride after the weekend anyway
Re: Qld weather venting posts
+1 I'd made a small gain but I didn't do much even on the weekend At least the wind has settled, hoping to get out in the morning! Please bring back the sun! Lisa
Re: Qld weather venting postsS'morning was pretty good actually. Only needed one baselayer and only skidded on one manhole cover.
Sure beats getting on a trainer, and most cyclists are off the roads. Lets hope it stays dry(ish). Ha ha! Cookies on dowels.
