Re: Post Your Ride
Nope. It's extremely rigid & stiff with very little side ways flex at all. Surprising I know, but it actually has a very harsh feeling to it. Gas propulsion.......it's natural don't fight it.
Re: Post Your RideI know it's nothing flash, but a couple of months back I got my hands on a TREK MTB frame from one of the guys here. A nice frame, and nothing but the frame.
A small pic but you get the idea: ![]() So here it is now, a few extra parts (some sourced here), and some elbow grease later. Cost me a bit of time and $$$ to do, with some help from the LBS to do stuff I couldn't, but I think it's come up alright ![]() ![]() I'm still tuning the derailleurs etc, and I can't say it's especially light or has top end gear, but it'll do the job What is it with cycling? 30+ kmh and lycra???!!!
Re: Post Your RideIt gets you on the trails, and that's the main thing. Gotta start somewhere!
Here's a tip: Get an old inner tube (after losing the patches) and wrap it around your chainstay in overlapping coils, and tie it off at the end with a cable tie. This photo shows an example, but I tend to cover pretty much the entire drive-side chainstay, and you only need to use one cable tie at the end you finish at. ![]() "People have a right to their own opinions, but not their own facts. Re: Post Your RideMy latest ride,
the flat bars may have to go, and will probably make it 2x10 setup, never use the big ring with the larger wheels. ![]()
Re: Post Your RideNice ride A_P
That exact bike is parked in the basement of my work. While I'm not a huge Giant fan (personal fit issues), it really does seem like a do anything bike. Reminds me a lot of my mates RIP 9 Niner. 2010 Cannondale Flash Carbon 29er - 8.0kg, 2002 Cannondale CAAD6 R4000Si, 2010 Cannondale CAAD9 4 (for sale)

Re: Post Your RideI officially have bicycle envy looking at that.
What is it with cycling? 30+ kmh and lycra???!!!
Re: Post Your Ride
Thanks for the tip - already did this yesterday following your recommendation - a much cheaper and easier option than expensive chainstay guards. What is it with cycling? 30+ kmh and lycra???!!!
Re: Post Your RideForgot this thread...
![]() Replaced the bar and stem after the first ride, now I gotta get rid of those wheel decals. ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Re: Post Your Ride
I was only kidding before.. LOL. You do get used to them...
Re: Post Your RidePurchased this a few weeks ago literally 2 hours before I left for a long weekend camping up at Melrose SA. Since returning Ive replaced the bar/stem (Truvativ Stylo) and chucked on some M520 pedals. Basic but it does the job I need it to do! Especially for the price.......$699

Re: Post Your RideIt's got all the basics right, and that's what matters.
BTW, how does that Sigma computer mount stay on? PS: Try moving your shifters and brakes in closer to the stem/centre of the bars. That way you can get the index finger into the hook at teh end of the lever for single digit braking, and you have more fingers wrapped around the grips for better bike control. Re: Post Your RideSigma computer is some very strong dbl sided tape for now till I find some O-rings! Im afraid the shifters are stuck in place for the time being because Ive rounded the tightening bolts (only used a ritchey torqkey-5nm) so for now i might just shift the brake levers in as far as they can go. Cheers for the tip.

Re: Post Your Ride
Ohhh yeah.....do that!! I took a hair dryer to the Anthem wheel decals (just to warm them) and stripped the wheels back to black. A quick rub down with acetone to clear off the last of the glue....much better. Less than an hours work. Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle
