Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Looks like the Early Bird registration opens today! I'm hoping to get up there this year and am hoping for better weather so I can actually do the ride!
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011I've registered

Cool. What number did you get? Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011My ref no is "B2GC11-129", so perhaps 129.
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Registration done, number B2GC11-153. Anybody riding back?
Trek Domane 5.2
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011I expect I'll be riding back again this year. Pretty cruisy, just have to keep the fluids up and fill up the bottles whenever you get a chance so you don't get caught short on the way back.
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Anybody keen to form a team? a few of us here, planning to join/form a team, save $10 from 75 to 65 team participation.
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
Ditto. B2GC11-115. Riding back is the plan. Just got to spend the next three months training and getting my fitness back. And dropping the extra 7 kilos I'm carrying just now. I have to outrun Comedian, just this once...
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
B2GC11-22. I was quick, but not quick enough!! Max One of the best things about bicycle commuting is that it can mitigate the displeasure of having to go to work. - BikeSnobNYC

Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Haven't registered yet, but I'm planning on riding back....I just want to find away to avoid the nasty steep section on Fryer Rd Eagleby, after 140k+ I'm sure that it would do me in

Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
Walk..?
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
And do the walk of shame If my legs are jelly even walking will be difficult Lisa
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Riding back sounds like a plan. It would be much easier in a bunch or an organised ride.
Maybe BQ is missing an opportunity here judged, insulted, gone
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011I'll be doing it with my girlfriend, i've managed to convince her to have this as a fitness goal for the year. I really want to do it on my own sometime and really smash it (first and last time i did it was 2008 with my MUCH slower brother- attempted it last year with my girlfriend but her bike had a terminal mechanical after only 12k, i wasn't going to carry on to the finish and leave her to the mercy of the sag wagon).

Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
That sounds like a good idea. I'll be in it. We could be the "Tight Arses" or maybe "Frugal" sounds more like a pro team. For team kit we could wear old white ts with "Frugal" scribbled in texta pens and maybe some sponsors names. Hey sponsors! There's another good idea... judged, insulted, gone
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Hi All,
Haven't registered yet. Tempted to register while the pre-sale is on to get $50.00 entry, cause I'm a big cheapskate. I could ride back (yeah, I'm dreaming). I need a 100km + ride in preparation for the Great Victorian Bike Ride in Nov/Dec. I missed the Brissy to the bay because I had the virus that is going around, so I am still cranky about that. Cheers, Anniegray
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
BQ members are only paying $50 for entry at the moment
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
Get her to recruit a friend to ride with her - that way you get to both ride the course at your own pace
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
I am not a BQ member, i went to the BQ page and see that i must pay to join BQ.

Solid idea drunkmonkey, i'll look into it. When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011
If I get a maxi pass for the weekend, I won't be after you. I'll be in front of you
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Sheesh, I still haven't managed to participate in one of these big charity rides yet!
I'm doing the Bridge to Brisbane run in September. I might sign up for this too. Either with my wife on our old Trek MTBs, or I'll do it alone on the roadie. Litespeed Tuscany & Trek 8000 rigid MTB
Re: Brisbane to Gold Coast 2011Last chance for tight arse BQ entries today!
