Before, as picked up from the tip.
After a LOT of work.
Very happy with how it's turned out, especially that i managed to get the bartape PERFECT, 1st time that's happened .
Sadly, because of the rain today i haven't been able to ride it yet (there's no way i'm getting it dirty!)

And finished... (except it has a Turbo-matic saddle on it now).

After stripping it all back and converting to singlespeed (have since swapped the rings around so 42-16 rather than 52, that was painful on the hills).

He brought the bike around one afternoon so I could take a look at some of the problems. I was astounded at how Crappy this bike really was! The brakes didnt work properly the gear selection was vague the wheels out of true and the cones loose - this bike was not going to make it to Wollongong!
So I decided to do something.
I pulled out my old Shogun Trailbreaker 4. It has been sitting at work, being used as a "shop run" bike and for when I was bored at work.
I figured it was time to do a fix up on the old girl and give my mate half a chance of making a comfortable ride to the Gong. So, I stripped the bike down and checked it over. The bearings did need servicing. The BB was Toast! - I picked up a new one. The frame went to Mr. Kleen for a new colour finish. The original Tioga tyres came off and some faster, slick road tyres went on. New cable inners, and a good clean up using the Brown Vinegar bath method (works really well!!) Kero, and plain elbow grease, and the bike was re-assembled.
The re-cycled Shogun, now looks like this;
