Perth, so I really never have an excuse to not ride to work. 33km each day, same as you, though with the move this weekend it might add a tiny bit more. Only moving a few blocks over, will see what it adds to the commute.Rhubarb wrote:Oh and what city / town are you in JBark?
When I'm suffering in miserable weather it helps to know Oxford and lethoso will be too as we're all in Brisbane.

I do 28-32 a day, depending on how lazy I'm feeling. Consistency is my only chance of beating you guys I guess, heh.
I commute on a cross-check - didn't want 26" tyres, and figured a LHT is probably overkill for commuting anyway. I have to say it's been pretty much perfect.schurms wrote:I saw your LHT and blog and am looking at getting one built up for a commuter as my back is getting too old for a back pack.

Good to see you pushing it occasionally too especially to us roadies. Racing a MTB is like arm wrestling your sister. There's no glory in winning but no way can you afford to lose. I don't understand the sledge though. There's no better way to earn my respect than to drop me up a long climb. It hasn't happened for a long time now but I welcome and respect every challenger. And if you could do it on a MTB that would be even more qudos to you. High end Italian roadie?

It's mine, ya hear? ALL MINE!!!!!Rhubarb wrote:There's a couple of good battles emerging in this comp. 1 and 2 are doing crazy kms. 3,4 & 5 are doing big kms and yet still tightly bunched. Now the battle for 6th is on as well !!!
Sorry, guilty of that as well Although not to that extent!Rhubarb wrote:So since jumping up to 6th place a few weeks ago I've been watching Joel/lethoso steadily reining me in, whilst all the while waiting for Oxford to awake from his slumber and dump a backlog of a months rides.
Had a very slack couple of weeks, with a family holiday over the long weekend and two straight-after-work appointments this week it's been real hard to muster the will power.
Normal transmission will resume next week though..........

As of 21 June, I'm running both the Endomondo and Cyclemeter apps simultaneously to record my rides.
I couldn't see a way to export out of dailymile in a format that Endomondo understands - let me know if anyone has successfully done this in a bulk process...
I seem to have lost 150km along the way, but that's fine, will just have to pedal my way up from #11

Haha, I tried the knobby tyres for about two weeks before I stole the road tyres of my wife's bike, no way I could stand to do it every single day with that kind of rolling resistance.Mugglechops wrote:I wouldn't say that. I once commuted for 2 years swapping between these 2 bikes.
And actually, a while back I did pass a guy in his 40s-50s commuting to work on what looked to be his son's BMX bike. Seat was all the way up, and he was still almost kneeing himself in the face with every pedal stroke. Now that's commuting dedication.

So much pressure on at work too so I can't tale any longer routes to add any kms as I never have the time.
Oh well still hanging in there.

OK just becuase you asked so nicely - I'll take Friday off - cycle the short way home and not ride to the shops over the weekend.Mugglechops wrote:Finding it hard to get out of the twenties. Some of you guys in front of me must be due a for holiday soon

At 1.24km/week-ish gain is should only take ~100+ weeks. See you in a couple of yearsLivetoride wrote:Challenge is on indeed, only 158k till I take 3rd

Then I came down sick and got the bus home and stayed yesterday. Feeling ok today but still have to bus in as my bike is at work -do'h !!!
Close to dropping a spot on the ladder as a result. End of this month we move buildings so the commute will be a few kms longer. Should help me hold on.

Looking forward to a couple of extra long commutes to work over the next month as I try to loose a few kilos. It has been a lazy winter.
