Social rides around Penrith?

G'day peoples, I'm at Leonay for a few months and was looking to join in on some social rides in the area (road). What are the current regular rides?
Oh yeah, I'm not super fit, so distance, avg.km/h and climbing effort needed would be helpful too thanks

Firstly, it's actually Penriff.

Penriff is blessed with a few things. One of which is in the areas slogan "The Gateway to the Blue Mountains". Yep, it's claim to fame is that it is on the way to something better.

Something else that Penriff is blessed with is decent bike shops. You've got Blackmans, Panther Cycles and Lifecycles. All those shops run group rides of various forms so they might be a good place to check in with.

I spend a lot of time lurking around the MTB trails of the middle and lower mountains (and some in the upper mountains when the weather is less fresh). Lots of people ride road up that way too.

Lifecycles ride starts at 6.30am Saturday at the old Lifecycles shop, Crn Rilley st and Henry st. 57klms to Richmond and back. Average 30 kph with a bit of an increase at the end. There are various levels of rider which do the ride so you want get left behind and its basically flat. Nice coffee at the end!!

cheers fellas, that Penriff Richmond ride sounds perfect. I missed it this morning not handling the cold down here too well hopefully by next Sat it will be nice and sunny and I'll give it go then

Dodgiebros I will be heading out to the Regatta Ctr with my old man on Saturday morning from Emu Plains if you're keen, he's in his 50's and has a bung hip so no land speed records, let me know by pvt msg if you want to meet up.

well, I'm back in Penriff again and went to catch up with the lifecycles ride this morning. Was gonna join in at the regatta roundabout at 6:30 but no one came through. Is this ride still on? or has the start time changed? Has the route changed?

Dodgiebros, let me know if you want to do a ride out that way, I often ride up from Liverpool do a lap of the Regatta Centre and head back home. I'm not sure but I think Lifecycles may have shut down??

Pretty sure the shop and rides closed down a year or so ago. I think I heard something about a bunch if tri riders doing a group ride on a sat morn starting in penrith but I have no idea what time or from where. Sorry I cant be of more help

I wasnt sure if the rides were continuing even though the shop was gone.
I have had a look at bunch ride finder . com and there seems to be one departing from Gloria Jeans on the Nepean River 7am Saturday mornings.
I'll give the organiser a call later today and see if they are still going ahead or they have folded.
I might let the Tri guys do what they do best. Ride really fast
Just need to get over this chest infection and I'll be sweet.
