Oregon Cyclewear Group Buy

Postby MountGower » Thu Jul 14, 2011 1:49 pm

G'day

I thought I'd put the stupid computer to good use for a change and organise a group buy from Oregon Cyclewear.

At this stage it will be for 14+ of the long sleeve jerseys to get the super discount. Otherwise it isn't worth the hassle. If it's a success, I'll do another one for short sleeves in September.

Feel free to nominate the styles that are available from August 1 as it's only 2 weeks away.

Payment will be in advance to the order being placed by bank deposit. Details will be issued after numbers are confirmed and a postage quote is obtained, although it is on their website being US$15 + $5 for each additional, which is US$80. About US$6 / jersey.

Pick up is available from Coorparoo after hours, or Northgate from 6.30am - 3pm weekdays.

Register your interest here or by PM or email. I'll update progress as it becomes likely that it'll go ahead.

I'll take two, so we need another twelve. Or more.

Hey, not looking to buy any with this order but I thought I'd mention that I got a couple of these last year and have been really happy with them. Pretty much lived in mine last winter both on and off the bike.

Speak up soon people, or I'll be forced to double Max's order and go ahead without you.

They look pretty cool.
I'd like a black and white one with "Fossil Fuelled" in Campy script.
Can I order one like that or do they all have to be the same?

The price appears to be US$56 plus postage for one. That's not bad :D

Long Sleeve Wholesale

Purchase any 14 or more

You can mix colors/sizes/styles to reach the wholesale price as long as the name stays the same or no name added.

We aren't going to get the 14 so I won't be going ahead with this.

keep it open for another fortnight. spam the heck out of it and i reckon you'll get there
Has anyone purchased a wool jersey from Oregon Cyclewear?
I cycle toured with a friend in SE Asia who had a wool jersey he wore every day. Unlike my synthetic jersey it never smelled and wouldn't get stiff with sweat. I was super impressed and I want to buy one for an upcoming trip. Oregon cyclewear seems significantly cheaper than their competition (smartwool, Ibex, earthwindrider, etc) and I was wondering if this was an indicator of quality. Unfortunately, I don't live in a city with a year round local bike shop or a retailer who who would stock an item like this so I can't just go try on jerseys.
Wool jerseys and wool clothing are amazing when compared to synthetics.
Wool is expensive but worth it. If you can't stomach the price of a wool jersey, try a wool t-shirt out just to experience the difference.
I have a short sleeve wool jersey from Oregon cyclewear. Feels nice - I prefer it in the spring or fall, but it's fine in the summer also. Their sizes run a tad small. I usually wear a small or medium jersey, depending on brand, but their medium is a bit tight on me - though not too small that I should get a large.
Are they hot and itchy?

Sigh, no. I don't think wool clothes have been itchy for the last 100 years. This is usually the first question asked about any wool garment. They feel awesome, regulate temperature well, retain heat when wet, and don't retain odor.

I'm interested, but I'm about to head overseas until the end of August, so you might be waiting for a while before I finalise payment.

Interested in getting 2x Style #6 "Hawthorn" (Red with black and white) to match the two short-sleeve jerseys I bought a couple of years ago.

Oregon Cyclewear Group Buy

Postby wqlava1 » Thu Jul 21, 2011 12:44 pm

I'd buy a couple- but I'd like one to be short sleeve. I have one short sleeve already and it is excellent in all the ways that others have commented. Surely he'd give the 14+ price as long as they are all jerseys. Seemed very reasonable when I dealt direct

+1 for the short sleeves. Winter is almost over in QLD so short sleeves would be a better option for me..

Be a bit more positive. I've emailed Chad asking if we can have some short and some long in the order, and if we can have some with lettering (though the guys without graphics shouldn't need to share that part of the cost). There were more potential buyers listed above - celeste boy, schurms, mountgower 2, max wanting 6, & me wanting a second one.

Work this out geographically for lowest post cost. I can do Perth and Melbourne, and there needs to be a postal charge for people in different cities. if you want it all sent to Melb then I take Perth and send one parcel each to the most central in the other cities with buyers, we might still make this happen. Just another suggestion if you want. Logistics......

I've just got the reply from Chad:
"Yes you can mix short and long and styles if you like. You can also have
some blank and some with names, as long as the name is the same that will be
on some of the jerseys.

Live Slow, Ride Fast

Chad H. Krueger"

I'm prepared to be as helpful as possible to make this happen, as I posted a few hours back.

LONG SLEEVE:
Mount Gower x2

Dimma x1
Crittski x1
celeste boy x1
wqlava1 x1
notwal x1

SHORT SLEEVE:
wqlava1 x1

3 to go!

Sizes run a little smaller than usual apparently, so please double check the size chart.

Max, are you in for any?
hartleymartin, would you like to finalise your order before you leave?

notwal would like "Fossil Fuelled" in black Athletic Script 1.5inches (the largest allowed for the number of characters). Anyone else who would like the SAME lettering, please make a note on your order to Mount Gower. Only one lettering style per order. notwal gets in first.

Mount Gower, I assume people are also ordering via PM, so can you post when you have enough numbers to proceed?

Use this template to make life easier for Mount Gower.
Add your postal address if required. Postage rates to be determined for best economy according to dimensions.

NAME:
LONG OR SHORT SLEEVE:

SIZE:
"FOSSIL FUELLED" LETTERING: Yes / No
ADDITIONAL LOCAL POSTAGE OR PICKUP: Postage / Pickup

People, I believe I made my position regarding this matter perfectly clear in the 9th post above.

Regarding the idea of posting these things all over the place, my position on that was made clear in the original post.

It's obvious that I have been talking to myself from the start. I wish you all well with your purchases, which I, apparently not obviously enough, will NOT BE MAKING FOR YOU.

Cheers.
