Where are all the girls? Sure I'm new, but I haven't seen any yet!

Me no lady but I'm only scary in the dark :D

You're right, there has to be a few around. Have you checked the bicyclesa website? If you click on rides program on the front page, you'll open a pdf document that shows a lot of organised rides by the various clubs. I'm off to the parents with kids ride tomorrow with my two.

And if nothing else, you can always go for a ride with me or Jase (now there's a point, he's got a partner).

I haven't got any objections to riding with you male types.... except that you might be a little scary and quick and well... actually thats about it!

As a newbie, I have declared a new rule.... no riding in thunder and associated scaries...

My average speed is a whisker over 20km/hr and one bored 14 year old - he can't understand why I'm in a lather and he hasn't broken into a sweat  He's on school holidays too so gets to go on all my training rides ... except the 'long' ones (wimp).

He reckons riding for more than half an hour is overdoing it - that's about 10km. Trouble is, he'll do 20 km and barely raise a sweat, get home complaining about how slow I ride. He won't even consider going on longer rides.

We just got back from a BikeSA ride - Pedalling parents. Very hot day today, and blustery, so it was just my mob and the two organisers. So it was me on the Sow's Ear, the lass behind me on her tag-along bikeand my son on his OCR2. We did 12 km in an hour's riding but with a long stop at every playground, the whole trip took two hours. So it was very relaxed. Still, the lass had fun.

We average a bit over 20km/hr and do either 10km rides or 20km rides though I'm happy dawdling along and he'd like to sprint away from me. I like to do longer ones occasionally and am planning to the Torrens Linear Park from sea to hills and back - probably next week when I've got him but not my daughter. That's a nice, gentle ride and I reckon the kilometers will just disappear under our wheels.
