Local tracks

Postby bigbuzz73 » Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:39 am

My wife and I recently bought new MTBs (Specialized Hardrocks) and wish to do a bit of trail riding (I hope that's the correct term! We r novices  )
Can anyone suggest some areas around the Mornington Peninsula area we can have some fun? We live in the Frankston area. Thanks to all that offer some advice

Ride to the end of the street and turn left :D

Seriously, that's often the best way to find tracks - just go looking for them. I'm constantly stumbling over things I didn't know were there.

and I suspect my knowledge of Adelaide isn't going to help you on the Mornington Peninsula

I'm well over the other side(s) of Melbourne in Sunbury so I can't help you much directly. I'm pretty sure the Bay Trail starts/ends out your way.
Have a look at the Bicycle Victoria website for a start. http://www.bv.com.au

Apart from that, go outside and let your bikes tell you where to go :D

Hi im in seaford and if your after mtb tracks for all skill levels I would head down to lysterfield lake. Its about a 20-30 minute drive from seaford/frankston and is worth it. I haven't come across anything good down seaford / frankston. Nothing to keep me entertained for long anyway.

I have heard that there are a few tracks out "behind" Frankston and Mt. Eliza, but I don't have any details. It may be worth doing a search on www.bikely.com as well.

I often ride from Bayswater to carum on my Mt Bike along the bike tracks. Check out the melways (dotted red lines with bike pics) are bike tracks, or buy a bike track book from your LBS. There are hundreds of tracks.
Have fun.

Walk a mile in my shoes and you will probably get blisters with these DAMB cleats.
