Renshaw to be Rabobank's #1 Sprinter
Postby Chuck » Wed Aug 10, 2011 7:48 pm
Hope it's true as I'd like to see what he can do with guys working for him instead of the other way around.
Edit: Beaten to the punch here....

Think it does deserve it's own thread though

I was imagining what would happen if he turned around to become André Greipels lead out man, that could have become very interesting.

Is he making a successful transition to road racing? Seems not.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:How's Theo Bos going?

You could be on the money there Jean....Jean wrote:Yeah, I don't know that Renshaw is necessarily going to Rabobank to be their undisputed sprint kingpin. Mentor for Bos might be a more accurate description?

Note that Bos is very welcoming and the wording from Breukink "who may in addition sprint for his own gain". He'll spend some of his time leading Bos out, but how much ??"Renshaw has excellent qualities, extensive experience in field sprints, who may in addition sprint for his own gain. The fact that the initiative comes from Renshaw says a lot about the esteem in which riders hold our team," said Rabobank director Erik Breukink.
Theo Bos welcomed the arrival of Renshaw: "Mark is the best lead-out man in the world. I'm really thrilled that Renshaw has chosen to sign for us. The partnership with Mark will help me in my development."

According to Cycling News...
The highly regarded Australian has played a key role in helping Mark Cavendish dominate the sprints in the last three years but will work with Theo Bos and fellow Australian Michael Matthews in the future, as well as getting more opportunities to win himself.

Hedging there beats, its not clear that he has the legs to win himself yet. If the hope going for my ownwins does'nt work out then he slips back into his lead out man role.

But I think what makes him a great lead out man is that he blocks a large amount of air when hes on the front, hence helping his man behind. And part of the reason no one can follow Cav as he is so compact and low.
