Hello
I recently got a TACX magnetic trainer. I am new to road cycling I don't have a designated trainer bike or wheel, but I have noticed the accelerated wear on my back tire.
My question is reagarding reducing tire wear: Am I better to use an easier gear but turn up the magnetic resistance or do the opposite.
Thanks.

make sure your tyre is pumped up to > 110psi and the tyre is hard up against the roller so there is no slippage
and longer term think about getting a dedicated wheely & tyre to use on the trainer

Thank you JV911, I appreciate your response. Would like a few more opinions though. Even if it is that I posted in the wrong part of the website.

OK, here's another opinion. Buy a dedicated trainer tyre - or run your old tyres on the trainer until they die. A dedicated rear wheel with trainer/old tyre and old cassette would be a good idea (just swap your good wheel for the trainer one then you're good to go). Better still, a dedicated trainer bike.

Another vote for dedicated tyre or using your old ones.
