Beat me to it. Was going to post this...

It's a bit same/same-ish doing the questions, but hopefully it'll result in better infrastructure....

Doing it but geesh! It's not half obvious they want us all on bikepaths is it?! I resent the requirement to answer hypotheticals re use of bikepaths when I do not use them.
Let me beat everyone to the punch by stating that I love that more people are taking to cycling as a result of growing bike path network in the SE corner. The roads can be daunting for a new cyclist and cycling specific infrastructure can only be good for us as a community.
I have nothing against bike/shared paths but I don't use them either. How is that catered for in the survey? It is a waste of my time if upon it's conclusion there is the assumption that I use something which I in fact do not.
I could construct a nose blowing survey that half way through asks you to answer - theoretically - which nostril would you pick if you had to and who you'd flick the snot at. Would that survey represent nose blowers?

I didn't bother finishing this crap. They (the QLD Government) will also in the future expect you to be able to train almost exclusively on bike paths? Amongst the kids/pedestrians/commuters? None of whom need or particularly want fast individuals/groups hassling them.
The point of this survey is is to construct an argument for cyclists to use bike paths over roads for everything cycling at all times, while throwing vast sums of money at it. How many cyclists share the same opinion? A very large number of us do NOT use bikepaths at all, but in the future we will have little choice in Suburbia!
Objectionable

Yeah, all those scenarios just blurred together into one big bland mess.

Womble: relax a little. If you'd got to the end you could have ranted a bit to whoever's running the survey like I did :D

I do enough polite suggesting to the pollies and me going off the deep end with a comments section on this would undo all of it with one mouse click

Not another obtuse survey !
Must be easier to design a survey than build a decent road or bikepath.

A typical Queensland Government managment technique for avoiding action - conduct another survey.
Such surveys give the beauraucrats a warm fuzzy and then the survey is filed away in the "lost" box.
More action and less talk please.

Personally I think the government could do with more talk before installing bike facilities - look at some of the crap we've ended up with.

Hi

Even though I don't live in Queensland I did complete the survey and I gave a valid postcode so my responses can be disregarded if deemed appropriate. I found the survey constructive and looking at both on and off-road riding options. Was constructed better than what I have seen of the surveys used here in the West.

Hopefully they get a good response rate and the data is used constructively.

One of the question about your last ride was if you had shower facilities and got changed after your ride?
Of course I did as it was home ..... As I only cycle for training / fitness my answer would be taken into account thinking that I have a shower every time after cycling but meaning they are assuming it to be in a workplace which if we were all riding for fitness only and not commuting the answer will not be accurate ........ Why do those polls have to be writing by push pen and paper people as this will be nothing more by another watse of time and money in my opinion

I did it, and actually thought it as a pretty well constructed survey...

Quite a wide variety of bike path and on-road bike lane scenarios presented, and they were clearly seeing what it would take for someone to opt one way or the other when selecting a route. Made sense to me... :)

Cheers,

I think it was pretty good. I was really impressed with the final questions reguarding road verse path choices.

As for speed I consider it extremely important for when i am commuting. If a route is long, winding and slow why would one commute?

Personally I think this servay is aimed at the right market. Cycling has got to be stop being viewed as a thing ones does on the weekend and as a valid form of transport. I want to get from A to B.

There was more to the survey than just bike paths....I completed it and agree with Abby and Beauyboy's comments.
I appreciated that the survey asked to rank various riding scenarios, I placed riding in a bike lane that riders shared with parked cars the least favourite situation :)

Since you didn't finish the survey, you missed the section on riding on the road.

you need to tell Apple its the 21st century, they are likely the ones crippling it because they do not allow flash media. Apple are the ones crippling their devices not to run standard features.
I just tried it and it seems to work fine on my iPad.

I agree marinmomma, my least favourite objects when riding are parked cars, plus pedestrians. I thought the survey was worth doing. I thought it was interesting they don't think we can ride more than 5 hours — the question on the duration of your most recent ride only accepted a number of hours between 0 and 4 to be entered (it did let me enter 4 hours and 60 minutes, so I at least get credited with 5 hours). My most recent ride (just a solo training ride at the weekend), was around 6 hours duration, although that included a lot of red lights and a few stops to fill water bottles.

Agree, worth the effort to do. Did drag on a bit with the "Which lane configuration would you prefer" type questions.

Now, for some action?

Don't hold your breath. Nothing's gonna happen before the state election, and I can't see the libs doing much in the way of pro-cycling stuff after it.
