Just researching greener bike riding in Australia.
Don't have any bills to pass out, just questions.
Gracias.

You're going to have to explain yourself a little better before people will start to give information.
I am currently researching for my thesis myself, and I know that it is difficult to get information out of people unless you approach the matter the right way. e.g. creating multiple threads with only basic information and are not replying to some of them will not get you far..
good luck. Might be able to help you out if you give me a bit more information.

I'm working on an article about Greener Bike practices in Australia. It is for a Australian Bike mag.
Looking for opinions, ideas, revelations.
Not much more to say about it.
Thanks.

Where are you based? What mag? How are you planning on conducting the interviews?Clateboulder wrote:elStado-

And if you're based in Nicaragua - que estas haciendo en Nicaragua cuando estas escribiendo por un periodico australiano?! Es un poco dificil para evaluarse la situacion del verde vida aqui si estas lejos.

If you're genuine, don't take it the wrong way. Just be clear with your intentions if you are going to ask people to email you to arrange an interview.Clateboulder wrote:Talk about some positive vibes.

It's just how you have to do it, otherwise people will get suss and you'll get negative responses.
I assume this is you?

And I notice that you essentially been posting the same or similar questions on other forums, not only limited to cycling:
http://www.bikesmoveus.com.au/showthread.php?t=4849
http://www.bikesmoveus.com.au/showthread.php?t=4863
(at least you have gotten a response on this thread, unlike the equivalent on the other forum).

You start posting four threads, could not be bothered contributing to your 3 other existing threads and sarcastic when asked about your intentions.
Why don't you bother other groups such as local bike organisations? Pretty lazy journalism to ask a forum like this without revealing who you are. I can imagine the write up of the article: I asked random strangers four random questions while I laze away in Nicaragua asking about cycling in Australia for an Aussie magazine.
If you bothered reading the forums, you would have realised that the forum gets a lot of surveys, members here have been published in books over their bike experience. The difference being the people who wanted info were transparent and properly introduced themselves, posted what they were going to do with the content, asked permission for members' content to be published and unlike you didn't post random threads that already existed in the forum. Actually, some of them contacted the site owner for permission before posting questions to members. Wow, what about that - courtesy.
So whatever.
Next.

An online survey perhaps would be more confidence inspiring than an email addy. Hoe do i know you won't just use my address to spam me with crap if I respond to you????

Trust me, I won't be using any of your quotes. And easy does it, no one is forcing anyone for info. If you don't have anything to offer, no need to offer. The riders that had some info to share, already shared.BRLVR.v2 wrote:Yeah, stop the clandestine ambiguous $hit, and just state who you are, who you freelancing for and provide some info on the background/brief you have for the article.
