route from Rhodes to M7 cycleway

Postby hannos » Wed Aug 31, 2011 12:31 pm

Normally I ride the M5 to Belmore Rd and meander through greenacre to Rhodes. However, now I'm toying with the idea of riding from Rhodes to the M7 cycleway then heading south to the M5/F5 and beyond.

Can anyone advise a relatively safe route from Rhodes to the M7?
I have no real idea of the roads in the area.

You can go through SOP and along the M4 to the Wallgrove Road exit then hook up with the M7 there.

Alternatively, north across river to Meadowbank, west along Parramatta River Valley cycleway to Parramatta
then head thru Parramatta Park, around the southern side of Westmead Hospital to Old Windsor Rd, up that to the M7 cycleway (shared path along Old Windsor Rd). Maybe a few more km's than the M4 route BFV suggested, but I suspect that's what you need :)

That's the way I go to work and I often continue on the M7 after work, join up with the M4 and come home. Going the way you suggest is significantly less wild than traveling along the M4.

Well this is currently the route I take to and from work.

I was just looking for something that might be a little less busy.
Wombatk, you wouldn't have a map of the route by any chance?

Bikely used to have lots of routes showing this, but is cactus presently...

So, can only help you with part of the way:

http://www.bikemap.net/route/669995#lat ... =17&type=5

includes the section from Rhodes to Parramatta CBD.

One of the FPR's had a ride posted on garmin.com from M7 to Brighton Le Sands that might be better, but
I can't find the link.

Cheers
