Your best bike knick recommendations

Postby wallaby » Mon Sep 26, 2011 12:55 pm

Hi girls,

just wondering what brand bike knicks you all prefer, as I have a couple of cheapy pairs but am looking at getting at least 1 good decent pair and would like some recommendations as to what brands and approx they tend to cost.

Cheers :D

Top end Sugoi or Peal Izumi - costing about an arm.

Assos - costing a leg.

You pretty much get what you pay for, but many don't need the good stuff until doing longer rides. Much cheaper online than retail, but you might prefer retail first up so you can try on.

I've just started using Sugoi bibnicks. They are super-super-super comfortable :D Yes, they're a bit pricey ($160-200), but it's better than having to shift in the saddle to relieve pressure...

I moved to Sugoi since my local LBS stopped stocking Jaggad. I'd been using men's Jaggad Edge nicks and they're pretty good. But now that I've experienced the Sugois, I won't go back.

I love my Santini bibs with the Gel inserts, the legs are a bit short which some may not like, I bought mine locally for $175 and I'm prepared to drop more dollars down for a 2nd pair.

For shorter rides, I don't mind my Pearl Izumi bibs, the pad is a bit too thick for my liking, which means that over any ride more than 40-50k I can get a bit uncomfortable.

Skins bib knicks for me...
have had a few pairs for a few years...comfortable and have full front so no bra needed.

Epic at Paddington are getting some in this week and setting a pair aside for me, they didn't have my size, if they fit as good as they look (I checked out a small pair) I think that I've found a winner....the Santini ones will be good for winter when wearing my tights, the leg is considerably shorter than any of my other knicks

I have a pair of Pearl Izumi's which are fine for 30-40k rides but I've found the pad too thick for long rides.

every sugoi jersey i have bought has been rubbish so ive been hesitant to buy anything else from them.

i love my 2xu shorts. (non bib)

i have heard assos are really good, and team estrogen another chick forum recommended louis garneau and sheebeast (i havent tried either).

i have recently got a new saddle and it feels horrible with my 2xu's so i think saddle can play a big part with different pairs of shorts.

on shorter rides ive found it doesnt really matter.

i love my santini stuff - its all really well made ( i have jumpers / jerseys) so i imagine their knicks would be good too. at the end of the day its all very personal, just keep trying.

Thanks so much for your input guys - they'll give me some good names to start trying and see which ones I prefer, plus give me a budget that is reasonable too!
Thanks! :D
