Is this a brilliant idea?

Most impressed with Bike Hub in Seventeen Mile Rocks Rd at Jindalee. Almost every tool known to cyclists is there for me to use to work on my own bike. Free courses are being run, and I had my own workbench, all tools, good coffee (the real stuff) and advice was provided when I wanted to know what "40nm" meant.

Also saw some helmets at good prices. Try $60 for a real smart looking helmet, with a built in tail light.

I am super keen to head there and assemble my Wilier once i've bought all the parts for it. Great concept and excellent way to keep business.

What a postively brilliant business model. :D :D
It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

Sounds promising. I like their attitude : [internet shopping] is not going away so why not use it to our advantage.

An LBS after today's needs...eg use our computer to buy goods overseas and have it delivered and installed here etc :D :D

I like the idea of renting benchspace. Very good idea.

Big +1

I think you mean 40 Nm. I was a bit confused too for a minute, there's no way you need to measure anything on a bicycle in nano metres.

Nor nautical miles either, unless you're talking about a ride of course but I prefer to measure them in attoparsecs.

I visited then last week and will be building a bike with them next week. I agree, really good to deal with,

Old thread, I know. Have just come back from having a full bikefit done. Was very thorough and explained to me the whole way through. They offer a lot of classes which I'll be investigating. I bought new brakes and they fit anything you buy there for free.

+1 from me.

I was just visiting their site just now. Interested in their beginner maintenance course. VERY interested. And for free? I feel bad about using stuff for free

Have used the bench service to put my new BB bearings in and was very handy, 30 minutes in and out and dusted after having taken the bike twice to a reputable shop twice for supposively put new bearings in when they didn't.
Love the concept and practicality ...doing most of my maintenance on the bike myself but still needs to get the gear adjustment touch.
Great bunch ofeople down there and good t hear about the fit as I am planning to get an updated yearly one and will see them for that.

yeh - the wheel truing one sounds like a good idea
do the course then true your own wheels for $15 for 1 hour bench time (i think they were the costs)
less than half the price i pay to get my wheels trued
