ALDI bike sale (starting on 05/10/2011 Wednesday)

The $15 track pump is looking good as a spare for the office.
$30 120 lumens LED with lithium battery and charger looks attractive.
Also the $40 bike tool set.
Cycling briefs with padding, haven't seen those before.

The "special buys" starts on 05/10/2011 (next Wednesday), but from experience they will probably be on the shelves from late afternoon Tuesday.

That bike light looks like the perfect thing for hanging out with your mates in the forest on a night ride. Snag a tree branch and you'll be hanging for awhile is my guess - don’t be last in line on the singletrack

Almost got hung up by the helmet myself on Tuesday night. My Ay-Ups got snagged in a low tree branch and just about ripped me off the bike by the helmet. They sit almost flush against the helmet, not up in the air like a periscope like those Aldi lights.

Cycling briefs with padding, haven't seen those before.

I bought a couple a year or so ago, they've held up fine IMO & no complaints of see-throughness as of yet (but I wear dark daks anyway).

I don't recommend the cycling underwear. Flimsy material, even flimsier stitching.

+1 to bike tool set. I know Park Tools are the mecca but for a learner they are a good intro.

+1 for their soft shell jackets. Bought one a couple of years ago and they're perfect for Sydney winters. might try grab another.

You have to wonder about the quality of a dual-suspension disc-braked MTB for $200.

I'm going to give the flat bar road bike a try from that catalogue, I have a good xt and xtr based hard tail MTB but I've been after something more road friendly and 700c based for ages to burn into town on, this bike is cheaper than a budget set of wheels and slicks so I'm going to go with it. Might be making a small mistake or might not, I will find out next Thursday

I will if the bike is real lol at the moment I'm starting to wonder :s maybe it was a printing error and is going to be sold at a later date, it's not a bike I've seen at ALDI in the last 2 years since we've had a store so it cant be a past bike, really weird it's not on the online catalogue

The cranks are a bike elitist's funny photoshop joke, they should know at least that aldi don't do was! now 2 for.. : lol. aldi stuff isn't top brand stuff fair enough but from experience the power tools at least aren't any more likely to blow up than a Makita and cost about 10 times less. We always make a joke about being an almost fully aldi powered shed now, so over the years I've learned that if you pick and choose a bit you can get a very good deal there. Even the backup generator to run the pumps incase there's a big fire is an aldi one :p talk about having aldi faith, although the water pumps themselves are not aldi, I was tempted one time when they had pumps for under $100 but didn't quite get across the line. I haven't bought a bike there (yet) but I've looked at a few in the box's and some of the non dual suspension MTB's in the $200+ range have been OK so I've been waiting a couple of years for something that is road travel suitable to give it a shot. The wife's been drunk on aldi grog plenty of times too so that seems to work just fine also lol :p

the sizing is fairly standard, but make sure to check them. I bought a couple of pair last time and though they were marked L, they were in fact XL and too big.

If their knicks fall from the same tree as their previous attempts, avoid. They have this translucent quality that would be magnificent in chiffon.

Everyone says the seat is rubbish but apart from that it seems good enough to get me around town for a while, I'm guessing it's weigh considerably more than my 10.5kg hard tail MTB but surely will beat riding around on knobbys so if it's in the store I'll grab one

I still have their jackets. Pretty durable and you can't be missed in fluoro! Made me sweat like a pig so I was wet inside and outside when it was raining. Have gone to better and more expensive things now
