I was planning on doing that ride, well some of it. But I realized that the Launny/Norfick race is on Sunday and I have been looking forward to going out for a look.

I'm not sure the times will work out? The race is expected to finish around 2pm. Unless the ride is long enough to be returning at that time, thats nearly 6hrs. I'd call that big. Probably too big for me at their pace.

 No problem Barry. With 4 bikes, 3 helmets and lots of different kit/clothes I am used to people not recognizing me!

The Bushy Park loop is "only" about 100km. I was thinking big might mean the Hamilton/Meadowbank/Ellendale/Westerway loop?

I just dont want to have 2hrs to kill between the end of the ride and when the race comes past. I could fill in a bit of time having lunch at New Norfolk but not 2hrs! Spend that much time in Norfick in lycra and you get lynched by the natives.

I'll wait and see the route and work something out. I cant miss the race though, its our biggest one day race and it finishes a short 25km ride from home. So I want to get out there and support it.

Having only raced with the vets and never done a training ride with them, do they follow the no man left behind procedure like the DOME bunch. If not I would most likely get dropped first hill in and then be on a solo ride after that.

i have only done one of these rides, and yes Skull no man was left behind. All grades rode together to start off with and then they split into 3 groups for three different routes. I think more riders come to this than the actual races

yeah DOME and STVCC rides this weekend

Yeah I was going to have a go at doing both. But when I got up and poked my head out the door it was chilly!! I knew it would warm up later, so it was too easy to go back to the doona for an hour

And yep I went up to Rosegarland, timed it well and got there about 5mins before they rolled past. Then scooted back to town to watch the presentation[missed part of that] Awesome weather huh! I bonked at about 80km's but came good after a feed of prawn cutlets n chips from Flippers

See you at the next vets race I spose.

cheers

Nope passed a group at the longly pub, i didn't really look who was there but it was a big group. I managed a solo 1h 45m commando loop today, legs are feeling it this afternoon.

may also have been us, we stopped at Langley pub for a re-org before heading up to Ferntree. Our bunch would have been about 12.
