I had a 28/parrot fly into my chest on Birdwood Parade on Monday night (boom boom - no seriously, I just turned off the Avenue in Dalkeith up the hill from Steve's and was on said road). May have been related to the Rabobank jersey I was wearing, not sure if they're that attracted to the colour though.

As for bugs I copped a stack riding through Naturaliste Boulevard in Burns Beach on Sunday and from my motorbike riding experience around Joondalup Lake, Herdsman Lake and Bibra Lakde are just as fun.

I get mouthfuls of midgies around Yangebup lake on my return home from work IF I open my mouth....

I've twice had bees get stuck in my lid and sting me on the head! bugger me that's painful and it's pretty funny for any onlookers watching a cyclist have a near seizure as he tries to rip his lid off as quick as poss as well

Bet it wished I was on a bike. Could not find it and no damage to the car, so it may have survived.

Watch out for the seagulls near Burswood. This one needed a helping hand.

Decided to contact Burswood Park about the swooping Wattlebird today - hopefully it gets removed sometime soon. I can get used to it buzzing and swooping the back of my head, however this morning it decided to dive-bomb me and aim at me head-on - didn't miss my head by much :? won't take much more & that bird will be causing a fair bit of damage when someone eventually comes off their bike!

got bombed by maggie near the roundabout on marmion ave and shenton road near Iluka this morning. Gave the helmet a good whack and scared the proverbial out of me whilst negotiating some traffic.

Does anyone know how long the magpie swooping season lasts? It is getting quite tiresome as theredoesn't seem to be any way out of my place in Baldivis without getting attacked. Maybe some king of anti aircraft turret mounted on my helmet will solve the issue :D Although not very aero dynamic so I guess I'd have to paddle harder.

Rode from home up the freeway till Anketell road and came across a really quick small black snake ... travel continued ... abait painfully to Farrington as the road works/ bike path works interupted a good ride ... up Murdoch , into Parry ave ... down a series of goat trails and so put in some good speed along Riverside .. 42km an hour whacko ... taken out by a rabbid Wattle bird into my chin ... Got to Atomic for a coffee break and the couple seated next to me asked if I had come off my bike as I had blood down my face ... yup it was mine too
"My father touched me like that once. To this day, he still has to wear orthopedic shirts."

At the end of the day , it is the Indian , not the arrow .. so ride what you want

Yeah they are getting bolder or more aggressive around there at the moment.

You need a faster canoe if you are going to paddle harder :).

Perhaps that's where i'm going wrong I'm trying to paddle instead of peddle. Still a canoe on the head might offer more protection from the maggies. lol

Wildlife count on a loop around Denmark last week - a dozen or so rabbits, 3 foxes, 1 tiger snake, 1 dugite (it's still a bit cold down there), 2 goshawks, 3 roos. Nobody else.

I saw a smallish brown snake (dugite or tiger snake?) about to cross the Freeway PSP near Reid Hwy this afternoon. It was the usual case of "oh look, a stick... wait... that's not a stick!". I was thankful that it was on the very edge of the path and I was flying by at 30kmh+.

I'm not surprised to see a snake in that area, considering the amount of bush and lakes around etc. Take care.

yeah saw lots of 'roos on the Audax Park Life ride on Saturday evening - between Jarrahdale and Pickering Brook mostly.

A couple scared the baby jeebus out of me on the high speed Walnut Rd descent just before Aldersyde, bouncing across the road at close quarters. I gather another rider collected one, rider and 'roo OK, but bike beyond riding........

Twice I happened upon a mongoose (mongeese?) in Mauritius in the last couple of weeks.

In the manner of a Norwegian Blue, arguably one may have actually been a non-mongoose.
