Some of the descents were awesome, especially into jenolan caves and the one on the way back back to the highway, that descent went for ever with sweeping bend after sweeping bend. Overtaking the truck and a few cars down Mt vic was fun also
I agree with Ryan that the Mt vic climb was the hardest climb i have ever done, have done it before and its been fine but with so many kms done already it hurt, it hurt alot.
We had a couple of stacks on the m4 coming back, it was dark and we were fatigued so this did not help, they both got up, brushed themselves off and kept riding, hope there is no injuries when you inspect yourslef properly.
I started the garmin late and then stopped it as it passed 300km as the battery was going to die. I did a bit more kms but dont really care, 300+ done, jenolan caves and return done
300+ km, 4600m climbing, 26.3 avg. Super day

p.s special thanks to all ridees for a top day out.
Zozz, ehly, sandy, mtb steve, chucky, John, Ryan
Special congratulations to mtb steve who did the whole ride on a mtb, top effort

Don't undersell youreself Sandy. You just did in one day, what we did in 3 when we went Jindabyne two years back...NotFlyingScot wrote:All the young whipper snappers did it easy as I'm sure they will report Simon, I think I only have one ride like that in me. Had to turn garmin off about 6km from home . Low battery warning, What a mother of a ride. never to be repeated by this old fart!

Awesome effort Sandy (and the others but they're not as "mature" as your kind self so easier for them ).
Congrats, and why not again? Bucket-list?

can we really believe all this KOM stuff After all this Strava outfit could not even get the bike type correct. If it gets something as simple as this wrong, does it have any credibilityChuck wrote:http://app.strava.com/rides/2217405

I haven't worked out yet if you guys are to be admired and want to be like you or you are just plain crazy.
for someone starting out you are an inspiration and the enjoyment and sense of achievement are obvious.

all reports are up so not much to add.
168 was my count to Jenolan so I just doubled that home.
Damn Forerunner 305 - kept blood y turning off on me.
And the 26.3 avg is not a bad effort for such a huge ride and ridicolous amounts of climbing.
Mount Vic almost broke me... what a b1tch after over 200+ on the legs.
Apologies to Steve for the fall. Really wasnt sure what happened, I didn't notice anything on the road, and I really dont think we tapped wheels. One minute we were motoring then bang !!! Hope all is well bud, and the tail is still wagging...
See you guys on Tuesday.. =)

There are longer and steeper climbs out there, but given the circumstances, the kms and climbing already done, the sweat pooring into my eyes which I was trying to wipe out with sweaty hands , the lack of shoulder and the cars, buses and trucks coming by so no zig-zagging, that was a seriously hard climb.
Ryans pics some it up perfectly.

Shucks Steve. You've got me all embarrassed I think I'm just the "exception which proves the rule" that "with age comes wisdom". Anyone with wisdom would not have put themselves up for that end of day climb up Victoria Pass. Funny thing is I'm booked in for some sort of heart stress test next week. Hope I passOld and Rusty wrote:You guys are amazing, Im relieved you all made it back safely and impressed no end by the physical effort and determination you guys muster. i hope your joking Scotto, if not i would like to see you ride 300+ km and more than 4000m climbing in the same amount of time as Steve on your mtb. If you dont have a mtb i will gladly let you borrow mine. Its under 10kgs. Would be very suitable according to your comment.scotto wrote:did he mention the MTB is lighter than most road bikesDaveOZ wrote:leximack wrote: Special congratulations to mtb steve who did the whole ride on a mtb, top effort
