My 5 week initiation to road cycling is complete (well probably not really, but its definitely a milestone period).
I have
1. Bought the bike
2. Bought the clothes
3. Done the transition to clipless pedals and shoes
4. Fallen off
5. Been paid out by work colleagues for lycra, walking around in cleats etc.
6. Dealt with a mid commute puncture
7. Done a full week of commuting (every day)
...... AND..........
8. Another roadie finally said hello to me (sure, it was as he wizzed by me, but it was still acknowledgement all the same!)
There are a lot of 'exclusive' or non-acknowledging riders out there (I pass a big gang of em' every single morning going the opposite way). Probably cos everyone is pushing into headwind or something, but it is way different to my motorcycle. There is head nodding going on all over the place when you pass a fellow motorcyclist.

Yeah clipless is great, if only I didn't have to stop (ever)
Seriously though, I haven't had any probs with the clipless and the shoes I bought (some sort of Shimano something or others that used to be $210 and got em' for $100 on sale coz I got little feet) are super comfortable.
The fall was because it takes me a good 3 kms on my way to work to wake up and I quite literally got to the traffic lights, feeling all cool and just forgot to put my foot down! The worst thing was that I almost did the exact same thing again at the next traffic lights and had to frantically twist and jam my foot down to stay upright! I concentrated real hard from there on in.....

I've been clipless for seven years and still forget occasionally
It's amazing just how quickly you can get a foot out when doing that
