Guys,
I've just scored myself a bike locker at Eagle Junction station so I'll be adding a new section to my regular commute.
Does anybody here do a similar commute into the CBD? Any advice on what would be a good route would be appreciated.

Eagle Junction to Brisbane CBDGuys,

Any advice on what would be a good route would be appreciated. It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

Ummm - from Eagle Junction into the CBD ????? Any suggestions on a nice safe route that avoids the migatory trails of the dreaded cages. It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.
Re: Eagle Junction to Brisbane CBDso you are cating the train to Eagle then riding from there?

Re: Eagle Junction to Brisbane CBD
The reasons are a long and involved story but the intended commute is: bicycle (Avanti Hammer) from Redcliffe to Deagon Station train from Deagon to Eagle Junction bicycle (Repco Olympic 12) from Eagle Junction to work (Mary St in the CBD) It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.
Re: Eagle Junction to Brisbane CBDdepending on how you feel I would see two options that are not entirely direct.
1. ride back towards Toombul and take the KBB, KBR then past the RBH/Victoria Park over the ICB, around the back of the grammars through the Parklands. However KBB seems to be a shambles at the moment. 2. ride over to Clayfield and go in via Hamilton, Racecourse Rd, KS Drive (on the pathway not the road) around Newstead and follow the river in to Newfarm though you then either have to main road it to the CBD or go over the Story Bridge to Southbank then back over either Goodwill or Kurilpa bridges. Really depends where in the CBD you are and whether you don't mind adding a few kms just for the hell of it. Either way involves some roads its unavoidable in Brisvegas unfortunately. If you don't mind mixing it with the cage dwellers then just take a direct route in on the roads, but I'm guessing that's not what you are after. Life is not about waiting for the rain to pass.....it's about learning to dance (or ride) in the rain.

Re: Eagle Junction to Brisbane CBDHudson Burroughs Abbottsford is busier, but do-able in the morning. A bit iffy in the afternoon.
http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/57141456/ Dixon Bridge McDonald LeGeyt LeGeyt has a pedestrian crossing across the train tracks. There's several ways around Downey Park to Victoria Park Golf Course. http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/57141264/ Fav Ride : Pottsville, Byron, Bangalow, Eureka, Dunoon, Nimbin, Uki, Mooball, Pottsville 200km 3000m
Re: Eagle Junction to Brisbane CBDA safer but longer alternative via Kedron Brook, 12.17km (one which Ox was referring to)
http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/57143608/ versus Abbottsford Rd 8.74km LeGeyt Rd 9.79km Of course distance won't be the primary factor. Time will be. and without traffic lights, Kedron Brook might be quite competitive. Fav Ride : Pottsville, Byron, Bangalow, Eureka, Dunoon, Nimbin, Uki, Mooball, Pottsville 200km 3000m
Re: Eagle Junction to Brisbane CBD
Stick to St. Pauls Tce. and swing in towards the city (Barry pde --> Gotha st --> Ann St) after Brunswick st and you could cut that even shorter. SPT isn't too awful, and traffic in the city is usually congested enough that it's not an issue. Heading the other way I'd say head out along wickham/breakfast ck. rd. & turn off back towards Abbottsford at Edmonstone St. if you want low traffic take winston's long kedron brook route.
