Well given that for $1450 I can get a brand new frameset with the same offerings that they want for $1200. I don't think they would go down to what I'd offer. The giro I'm looking at from flyingfurniture with selected options is $2250 + postage. Don't think I'm saving too much from that ozhpv sale...

Similarly you probably wouldn't be suited to a Bacchetta clone being advertised on Gumnut for just down the road to you: http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Stuff-for ... Z316197620
Has lots of Bacchetta parts, carbon seat (and spare), well made and for $900. Would look a bargain for you however you are in the same boat as me regards height and weight, the frame was made with locally sourced round CrMo tubing where as Bacchetta uses a teardrop-shaped main tube so that they can build a 'stick bike' around a single main tube that doesn't flex everywhere. The clone is a medium frame (whatever that means) and likely to be too small for you, as well as too flexible and not suited to your weight. The genuine Bacchetta models and the large frame sizes are probably what you need. Their website talks of X-seam in their specs and you need to look on http://www.bacchettabikes.com/support/fitting/ to work out what this is, really helpful in working out frame sizing for other recumbents. The rider setup pages are also useful.

Kalgrm has offered you a trial on his, I'm also up the road and have a Giro20 that you can try out. You saw this on the Great Escapade in 2009 but since then I've added disc brakes, changed the lighting and luggage arrangement for commuting and long trips down south. I'm about your height and weight but plus the optional aerogut. PM me if you want to try this, I'm not working so anytime.

Well after the sketchy weather today I managed to try Kalgrm's Bacchetta Giro 26 and just4hehhalibut's greenspeed trike and Bacchetta Giro 20.
Man love the trike, just soo fun. I will so have me one of those!!!! Didn't see the issue I saw with the trikes I tested earlier in the year. They did have 26" rear wheels which I think was the issue. Only saw it once and that was cos I was doing like 50-60 cadence hah
Out of the 2 Bacchetta's, I prefer the Giro 26 and it will take me time to learn it. I was pedalling in both of them and it was just easier in Kalgrm's. Believe the 700c wheel was the main reason behind that and I do prefer having wheels the same size :)

Better too wide than too narrow I suppose. The rear forks of my GRT20"/26" were very narrow for the hub motor and trying to drop the rear wheel out to repair a flat tyre took about 2 hours, even with all the resources of my local bike shop.

However, much better now.

I think when it comes time to get a trike, I'll end up having a trip to US and going to Hostel Shoppe and having a good gander and possibly bringing one back in my luggage.

BZ I'm so happy for you getting soon your new Bachetta soon anyway just makes me mad to here stories like yours but it appears to be the given norm in Oz these days.

If your after another haunt to make purchases from Utah Trikes in the US is highly recommended for super fast email response and willing to go overboard to ensure that they can build what it is you want or mix and match parts etc I have had great dealings with them as well as Hostel Shoppe so go for it.

Finally got the picture promised last week

Ian has apologised and sent the following to me
Hi

Apologies we got bogged a bit recently with assembly and emails so just following up…. You should have got an email from couriers saying your bike frameset etc is on its way…

(I knew 2 staff were to be away last week and this week – One mechanic is in China for 2 weeks and Aaron on email/admin away for 1 week but I thought we’d still progress through our planned orders … But I didn’t know I was going to be unwell as well.)

Apologies again for the delay / not getting the bike sent quite on time but you should see your bike frameset very soon …
But mmm those wheels! Shame they aren't coming with the bike, I'm waiting on spokes to lace up a new wheel.

Nice. Glad to hear its on the way.

The wheels look OK but I think I'd trust your spoked wheels more out there.
