MCCC Crits - Smeaton Grange

Postby hannos » Thu Nov 17, 2011 10:26 am

Thinking of heading out to Smeaton grange (a whole 5km away...) on Sunday to take a look and see what it's all about.
Anyone confirm if this is on this weekend?
Am I going to catch the racing bug?
SHould I take some cash with me in case I do and require a license?

Hey mate,

Good to hear your thinking of coming out this weekend.
Yes it's on.
Yes you may catch the racing bug.
Yes bring some cash to purchase a day license ($15) if you do decide to race. Oh, it's also $10 for race entry fee. If you do decide to join the club, the $15 is refunded.

Cheers,

Kev.

Hannos

I would consider just going a full licence. Apart from the insurance that you get with the licence, MCCC have a great bunch of guys and as I understand it, organise frequent rides. so you never have to ride alone again!

Alright, so what is it going to cost a 39 y.o male to join the club (and maybe race on sunday)?
What sort of license do I require?

$220 for you Hannos, 'cause your a Masters 2 if your 39 next year, or Masters 3 if your 40 next year, but the price is the same.

If you decide to come down, sign up on-line tonight if you want to join the club, or just get a day license tomorrow.

Sweet, even cheaper.
If I wake up I'll be there. We'll see about racing though. I might need a bit of 'convincing' :)

Just look for a guy on a red BMC in a yellow Safe Cycling Aus jersey :)

Better luck next time Hannos.

I won't be there next weekend, but someone will sort you out.

Glenn, your fitness is coming back gradually, which is the best way.
Won't be long until I'm forced to put you up into B grade.

Didn't realise you were there on Sunday Kev, would have introduced myself otherwise. Do you know Scotty Newell by any chance?

Ah, you weren't one of the guys yelling abuse at us in B grade were you?

I understand we got tangled up in your final sprint, but honestly, no one informed us you were coming through. Next thing we know, the expletives are flying.

Hope the rain stays away for you. Good luck.

Ha, no abuse from me, I was just shouting "riders" so that there wouldn't be any sudden moves resulting in stacks. I think it was more the guys behind that wanted to try to pass during the sprint but had no space to do so.

For those who normally race at Smeaton Grange, racing has been cancelled this weekend (Dec 4th) due to local business activities that would see multiple cars on the circuit from 8am.
It has been decided that this presents too much risk to rider safety, so we have cancelled racing and moved the series back by one week.

Cheers,

Kev.

Last race the last lap D and B were together. However, both grades communicated with one another and there was no hassles.

cheers
