All manner of half finished projects and a bit of randonneuring I used to be tech-savvy. Now I'm just tech-weary.
Re: Repco Olympic 12 into SS BuildOh man, the Rolls is such an awesome looking saddle. I love the gold plate at the back and on the side. It adds class and elegance. Only thing is that if I buy one then the colour of the leather won't match the grips. It's not a huge deal but it would be sweet to have it all uniform and it would be cool to try to give an old saddle a new lease on life. Might write up a WTB ad as suggested.
Re: Repco Olympic 12 into SS Buildhey what a nice exciting read! I'm sitting here hoping you get your gear so we can all see it being put together! Good work on noting everything you've done!
Re: Repco Olympic 12 into SS Build
I also got my b43s from Ben at velomine. Got him to build them up on miche primato hubs in a radial front and 3cross rear pattern and was really happy with the result.
Re: Repco Olympic 12 into SS BuildYou should consider one of the new San Marco vintage saddles. They have remade some of their classics such as the rolls, concor and regal and they are so close to the originals that you could barely tell if they we reside by side. I just bought a black suede concor and it looks the part and is very comfy, not to mention superbly built.
Here Is the lineup: http://www.sellesanmarco.it/en/Vintage/ ... Regal.html I bough mine on chain reaction. Between $70 and $90.
Re: Repco Olympic 12 into SS BuildI ended up buying that second hand San Marco Rolls for 15 bones. I'm liking the used/vintage look of it but I have decided to try to restore it. I've seen a few people restore them so it seems possible. Will have to source some leather and new rivets as I will have to drill them out. The main thing that I'm a bit bummed about is that when I polish the metal, it will loose all the gold colour, which works so well with the look that I'm going for. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether it's possible to get it gold plated cheaply somewhere, or something? If not, it will still look awesome if it's chrome though. See pics below for the current condition of the saddle. I must say, it has been well loved.

Re: Repco Olympic 12 into SS BuildWent for a ride out to Boondal Wetlands and took heaps of wicked photos with my bro's DSLR camera, got home and all the files were corrupted
Only had a few on my crappy point and shoot and will post them below for those of you who are interested. Other than that, bike is pretty much finished. Just need to reupholster the saddle and make some leather grips and toe straps. All in good time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

WTheF is with that naff saddle angle?
Re: Repco Olympic 12 into SS BuildRestored the saddle this week. Turned out really well. I figured I'd post it in 'The Shed' so if you want to see the whole process go here. Here are a few photos of the finished product.
