Yes you can travel up Main North road all the way to Gawler fully loaded with trailer as most of the road has a large verge so in essence you have your own bike lane. There are only a few short distances that you will need to ride on the road itself but I found it to be no issues providing you check your mirror on a regular basis. There is a new bike path but to get to it you will need to travel a further 20km and it will take you all the way to Gawler it's up the Port Wakefield road but traveling Main North Road you should be fine.

There is a metro train service to Gawler. Bikes are free outside of peak hours.
North of the CBD easily has the worst cycling facilities in the whole of Adelaide, with no good CBD-Salisbury route. The most iffy part of Main North Road is immediately south of the intersection with Regency Road, so have a look on Google Maps and see what you think.
Churchill Road parallels Main North Road as far as the southern side of Mawson Lakes, at which point there's a nice road back to Main North Road. It usually has roadworks. It's not a brilliant alternative, but it does give drivers long eyelines to notice your 'bent.

Thanks for that advice I thought about a train but the lenght of trike and trailer is to long for a train (well here in Perth it is ) and to disconnect a fully loaded B.O.B Trailer is freaky at the best of times so a road trip it will be lol.

By the time you get your trike onto an Adelaide train the doors would have shut and the trailer still sitting on the platform not a good idea our train drivers have very little care for boarding passengers so a trike and trailer you will have no hope.

Yeah, the death and injury rate is horrific here, not a day goes by we don't see something in the media about this problem.

It's probably worth pointing out that the Gawler Train line is currently out of service for 7 months while they replace the trackbed and sleepers.
