Ironman distance Tri in AU or NZ

Hi all,

I'm intending on doing an Ironman distance tri in 2013. Does anyone have any recommendations for well run events other than WTC? I'm considering Taupo or Melbourne but would welcome other suggestions.

I'd prefer to stick close to AU / NZ but if there is something interesting or a bit special please let me know.

I've done numerous Olympic distance in Europe and planning on a 70.3 in 2012 but no Ironmans before so something not too competitive would be helpful.

this local event got a good write up in the local press.... not sure how it is considered as an event outside the area though.... you'd have almost a year to train for it; assuming it is on again next year
