POST YOUTUBE HERE!

Postby winona_rider » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:37 pm

I have so many youtube faves....and i would also add maybe some tips on how to make a good youtube bike video.

can peeps pls post their picks (and tips) here? It doesn't need to be awesome...just something that is interesting

k thnx.

This is probably my fave: it combines two of my fave thinsg. New York and Bikes:

LINK

this one is a fixie parallel parking...LOL

http://youtube.com/watch?v=GI4gOrp0maM

This one is an amazing montage of fixies's in san fran. wow.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=F0AFpq6jFok

This is an "extreme downhill" from the dandenongs in VIC
(it is especially good as if you are filming yourself riding a bike - make sure you angle the camera so that you can see the horizon plus about 20%...that is my tip, if you struggle seeing the horizon you get giddy and that is not good)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=nrHz0MCJ8E8

This is a video someone has manipulated to make a car chase look like a bike chase...weird but worth seeing just for the final cut pro skillz...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=1a_Z-ywTc4w

i have others - i will post soon!

After watching the New York vid it's easy to see why drivers & even pedestrians hate them/us.

I thought someone might just poke a stick in somebodys spokes & then kick the crap out of the rider, but no. Still, it was New York & we don't know what happens off camera.
I wonder how many pedestrians are hit by these riders & their mates each year.
Carbine & SJH cycles, & Quicksilver BMX
Now that's AUSTRALIAN to the core.

it's new york! it's a hell of a town as someone once said...
yeah - as a pedestrian that would annoy me - but what an amazing view of the city.

The NY clip is done by Lucas Brunelle, who has quite a few videos of bike messengers different cities. Whilst I certainly don't condone the cycling in the videos, you have to acknowledge the skills exhibited.

I find the ones from Tenerife Training inspiriational

and this, with the 'Finger' for a soundtrack

Two things.

1. If you go and pass a car on a hairpin like that you're liable to get killed.
2. If you follow so close behind a car you can't see potholes. I have buckled a wheel due to this from following too close. Plus you risk rear-ending them if they have to brake suddenly.

BTW the downhill speed might be fairly high but corners on that one looked tame. ;)

I think this one is a bit hairier but few too many risks to take on a regular ride for mine!

My goodness, what about those one-after-another huge sweeping bends at 3:23, right after they hit 92km/h ?!
And the clip immediately after, when they're drafting the jeep and one guy passes it round a bend just before a ?bus? comes the other way?

Nutters....

can I just say i am not endorsing the behaviour/quality/whatever in these vids - i am just posting them for interest sake. i thought that video was a tad lame - i just thought it had the horizon ratio worked out....

Not one single word about the fact that none of the riders wore a helmet. NOT ONE WORD, yet I am crucified for even suggesting that I would also like to be able to choose to be legally helmetless.

Looks like a bit of selective hipocracy here, but then I've come to expect that from the helmet Nazi's.

EDIT
Did anybody else notice that the main persuit bike had the drive on the left side of the frame in some shots? [Image reversal to maintain continuity, or slackness on the part of the film's production team?]

Didn't take too much notice till you brought it up but i think it was just an oversite.

Birdman, that was a great clip... Absolutely fantastic.

Love Parkour too. Wish I had that strength / skill.
