help needed in eye-balling this road frame measurement

Postby jeff_o » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:19 pm

Hi mates. I'm in the market to swap my current frame (50cm seattube, 52cm toptube) as it is small for my height 175cm. I reckon i would need a 54-54 so i was looking at gumtree and saw this frame for sale. I contacted the person and let him measure again just to make sure. If you look at the measurement of the toptube (adding camera distortion) it seems like the toptube is just 52cm as he started front of the center of the head tube. can someone confirm if my eyes are going bad?

Just look at the head tube area where the bottom of the top tube seemed to overlap the top of the down tube. That suggests to me it's way smaller than a 54cm frame. Looked more like a frame closer to 48cm end of the range.

I concur, the TT appears to be 52cm from centre to centre.

I photoshopped some markers in at appropriate lengths, If you allow for the tape being held at effective 0cm at the very front of the head tube then I'd call it a 52cm CtoC top tube frame.
