The Cradle to Strahan looks easy enough, but the Devonport leg looks challenging, to say the least.

The seven hills was 210km, that took me a total time of 9 and half hours. That includes stopping for coffee and cake, resupplies and regrouping at the top of the hills.
I am going to enter before the end of december so I can get the knicks and jersey. I left it too late for the fondo and missed out .

Well, it's on my wedding anniversary and I've been told to do it.
How could I say no?
Definitely have to get the nicks. And for the price, there's no point doing the half-leg...
All I need to do now is get all that compulsory gear that I don't own.

For me it will mean switching to the compact cranks and a bit of begging to missus to drop me off at Devonport and pick me up at Strahan.

I dunno about this pure tas ride. Being solo the logistics would be tricky and would add a heap to the cost of doing it. For that kind of money I could do a tour of Cradle/Strahan/Hobart. Which is the loose plan before the end of summer[plus a few weekend trips closer to home]
So probably not this year. I think the price of the event is very good, for what you get. Compared to USM events $90 ride and $80 jersey for the Oppy gran fondo.

The climb at the 50km mark looks pretty interesting - average 5% yeah? How difficult are we talking?
And how are people planning on getting back to Devonport from Strahan?

Number one reason is the Wellington TT, which I will not miss.
Plus, the overall expense is too much for my budget this year.
Bummer.
