Finish was uphill just before the gate about a km past the rec centre. Start was a few hundred metres along Corin Rd, not at the intersection of Paddys River Rd.

Fairly zippy!! About 4 quicker than my best, and maybe 3 minutes quicker than the winners of that race, but that had an extra 25kms tacked on the beginning.

150kms out to Bungendore - Tarago(nearly) - Collector - Canberra. Headwinds probably for 2/3s of the ride, more like 3/4 of the ride time. Av 30.3, top speed 85.5kmh down smiths gap. Not a bad morning out but I am sooooo fatigued. Really hard work.

Friday: Stung by a bee on my commute home, right on the thigh! Crappola! I looked down and pulled up my knicks and saw the sting come out. Wasn't sure whether continuing and pumping blood through was a better thing than stopping and leaving the blood at the site for longer. Chose former. I guess I will never know.

Tulip, Sutton, Gungahlin this morning. Nice ride, home just as it rained (was already sprinkling). 50kms in 1:25. Great weather, mostly.

Happened to me on a ride with Rob a year or so ago. Was too far from home to contemplate anything but riding on. Inner thigh was sore for a few days but otherwise nothing too bad.

Was waiting at the lights this morning at Hindmarsh/Melrose about half way to work. A young fit looking bloke (blond hair and euro beard) pulled up behind me. I let him shoal past me as I expected he was way faster than I was. We were together down at the lights down near Phillip Pool and had a quick word.

He kindly :D towed me all the way along yarra glen and up towards the city and i went a few kms faster than i ever manage on my own (derrr, drafting does that). Until I dropped off when it started to go uphill near Yarralumla.

Whoever you are (yellow backpack protector on his backpack and bike shed clobber), thanks heaps for the tow!

Went to Bendora Dam today from Cotter today on MTB with friend Lex, out via Pipeline Rd & back via Warks Rd (68km):

On Tuesday went out & back from Duffy to Yass via Mountain Creek Rd (152km), with friend Daniel:

It helps being retired ! After doing the Fitz's Epic at the end of October I'm trying to get fit for the Audax ACE 250km at the end of January. Other rides in recent weeks have been: Namadgi Grimpeur audax 150km course; audax 'G-Spotting' 200km; 190km along the Fitz's Classic course with a few add ons; and 150km out & back to Micalong Creek (10km beyond Wee Jasper).

Greg
I've done that ride before, it's great!
Edit: Your ride was out and back on the same route by the looks, I came back via Barton Hwy and Murrumbateman/Nanima Rds

102km out to Lake George and back with some friends. Fantastic weather for it, we left early to avoid the heat and got back about 9am

Yes, the weather was superb this morning. Left at 5:30 for a Uriarra Condor Cotter. Felt like someone had drizzled treacle in my chain and wheel bearings after my ride yesterday, but still had fun. 100kms. Just made 31.2kmh.

After a midnight finish with a certain Ainslie based bike mechanic I slipped out this morning for a shakedown of my new bike. 8)

Went out to Sutton and then looped back into Gungahlin via East Tallagandra Lane.

Hauled my Xmas-food-laden self out to Lake George and back along the Fed. 62.5 (AT) 30.4. Gorgeous weather, but sore back and grumpy head... might be a little bit ill. I think there's a really mild bug going around.

Nice. I hit the Bilbies ride with a very reduced participant list. Only 5 in medium fasts, so I joined them. Did Hall/ Gungahlin and Alladins Loop for 70kms. It was fun and steady paced. 340kms down on the Rapha 500 challenge. 160 to go with 3 days to complete it. Easy!

All done and some. Did Nanima Rd for the first time this morning. Great ride with beautiful scenery. Good times. 80kms.

Thats it for the year. The curtain closes on my best year of cycling so far. Slump in May through July, fought back and levelled since then. Lots of firsts, new crew, new bike. Hope 2012 brings more of the same... without the slump (although I figured out during the slump that I was trying too hard and pushing the pedals instead of focussing on even cadence, so hopeful I can avoid that next time.).

All the best for 2012, guys.

Started the year with a nice ride out to Collector and back. Stayed on the NFH which I found out has a crap shoulder between the Tulip Farm and LG. About 600km this week. Can't wait to go back to work so I can have a rest!

100kms with 1500m climb doing 6 peaks this morning. Happy to have averaged 30.4kmh. Mt Majura and Ainslie and Black were painful at pace.

Out to Collector and back. Left too late though and it got really hot and a headwind appeared :(
I drank 4.5L!
Still, happy with 113 (AT) 30.3 ...good start to the year.

How did you carry that much water/fluid? Camelbak? Or do you drink the water at the rest stops? I've always been too scared considering the signs directing people not to.

2x800ml bottles, emptied by Collector. Drank another half bottle while refilling at Grandma's Little Bakery, drained the two full bottles again by Eagle Hawk, drank a full one while refilling and another 2/3 before I got home... used more like 5L but some was spent pouring into my helmet :D
Frikkin amazing how fast I was dehydrating on the way home (stupid headwind)... really needed electrolyte powder, but I've run out.

ps: I too am not game to try the rest stop water... might be ok with one of those filtering water bottles though (e.g.: Bobble)

If you go down to the rest area you can get drinkable water there
