Yes I've always thought the water at LG wasn't drinkable, same with the water at the rest stop (Wheatley?) on Lake George (though there wasn't a sign at Wheatley when I was there on Sunday so maybe it's ok now?). !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! me off that they have needle disposal system for junkies but no fresh drinking water. Priorities are waaaay out of whack.

Anyway, a couple of pics from yesterdays ride, rode from Jindy to Charlottes Pass and return.
Been pumping out the kms during my break, 700km in 8 days, almost glad to come back to work for the rest...I said almost...

55km for me this morning. Was a gentle spin after feeling a bit flat after yesterday's ride and dealing with the heat during the arvo.

Had a nice roll out to Sutton and back this morning, not sure of the kms, haven't got a computer on the bike. I was contemplating doing the Bilbies ride as I haven't done that for a while but glad now I didn't after hearing about the crash.

Great pics Ross. Would love to get up to the snowys one summer.

Had a nice break over xmas. Mostly running and swimming training but took the MTB away and hit the trails of the Orbost State Forest.

Santa got my 4 year old a new (bigger) bike and conveniently forgot the training wheels. After the intial look of horror, the little bloke jumped on and after a few wobbles with dad running beside he was off. By the end of day 2, he had successfully conquered the Orbost BMX track (the small jumps and berms at least), and clocked up dozens of laps of the local oval to be stopped only by mum who didn't want us riding in the dark!

I'm currently trying to get him interested in hill repeats and intervals!

Eep!!! I missed it completely. I wonder where it happened. Bilbies have had only about 3 crashes I have been aware of in the last 6 months. There are some varying levels of skill in the bunches but that is usually sorted by the speed of the bunches. Sometimes the stars align crap happens...

Nice hard hitout CU loop this morning with a few friends. Once we got off Cotter Rd the traffic was almost non-existant. It will be good when the dam is finished so there won't be the construction traffic anymore. Don't think it's due to be finished until around mid year though.

I reckon mid year timeline will slip further especially if we have more rain. They are way behind schedule due to the wet end to 2011. Dam was supposed to be at 70m before Xmas and they are only at 30m.

70km for me this morning. Beautiful cool morning with a nice tail wind for most of my ride. Last 10km was a slog though into the head wind.

Pretty happy. The guys I ride with organise a 350km odyssey every January and I did it today. Canberra - Yass - Crookwell - Gouburn - Bungendore - Canberra with stops at each town for refuelling. 350kms, 3445m climb, 30.3kmh average. Spent a fair bit of time on the front, too. Bunch was 9 strong for the first 220 and 7 strong for the remainder. Previous longest ride was 165kms. Gruelling. I was very pleased I didn't hit the wall and rode the last hundred strongly with plenty of energy.

smashed a massive 11km around new home. got wet, got real hot, repeated a few times. Worked out why road bikes shouldnt go thru soft dirt.. brown pants moment. Hoping the heat/humidity will die down a touch so i can aclimatise more and ride more!!

I'm jealous of all you guys at the moment. I'm hamstrung... Achilles problem :( (I've checked and adjusted my cleat positioning, but that's not the problem). Slowly getting better, hope to be doing more than commuting again soon.

That's no good, I had an achilles problem a couple of years ago and I was off the bike for a couple of months, it was about 6 months before it was fully resolved. I did a lot of strength work on that leg (and the other one), mostly eccentric calf raises (concentrating on the lowering phase of the exercise), and that seemed to sort it out.

Did another longish ride today (162km; 3,550m climbing) to try to prepare for the ACE 250km in Bright. Went into the Brindabellas to get in some long climbs. Used my heavy road touring bike with wide tyres (Surly LHT), due to about 105km of gravel. Went via Cotter then Piccadilly Circus & through the Brindabella Valley to Bondo State Forest (turned about 50km from Tumut) then back to Piccadilly Circus & Bulls Head and down to Bendora Dam, returning via Warks Rd. See http://connect.garmin.com/activity/140488713

Last week quiet due to hols in East Gippsland, but we did a couple of rides including almost 100km out & back from Orbost on the rail trail one day. Week before last did a 165km circuit with almost 2,800m of climbing, from Duffy via Uriarra Crossing, Cotter, Tidbinbilla & Tuggeranong, with diversions to: top of Mt Stromlo; end of bitumen (eob) at the NSW border above Uriarra; eob above Condor Ck; Tidbinbilla Tracking Station; Tidbinbilla nature park loop; and the national park entrance at Corin Forest (see: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/137169311 ).

Ride-a-day every day for January ... today's was Bilby's Golfcourse ride through Belco. 41km (AT) about 32kmh. Fun ride, big bunch... managed 400 last week, hoping for 450 this week.

Yesterday Lake George and 20kms worth of trailer commuting, today Uriarra Cotter with 20kms of trailer commuting. Legs are sore, but not too sore for Bilbies in the morning.

Yesterday was just over 100km - Gungahlin>Civic>Sutton>Civic>SFP>Gungahlin. Needed a boat not a bicycle for the ride home from Stromlo yesterday!

This morning 9x Red Hills, with a smart @rse comment from Mr Golf's teamate (John) who rode past as I was getting ready to start the 9th "Do another 10" . Put your money where your mouth is next time John, and lead by example!
