Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonHi all
Looking for a morning bunch ride during the week and probably on a Saturday, departing from around the Flemington area. I am travelling to Melbourne (from Perth) and want to do some riding whilst over there. I ride about 300ks a week right now averaging between 30-34 over most rides (50k+). Happy to ride to other suburbs to meet up. Cheers 2008 Giant CRX4 - Daily Commuter (Gatorskins)

Re: Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonMorning rides for me are normally a solo event around the Airport, Williamstown or Yarra Boulavard.
There are alot more weekday group rides down toward beach road, usually too early for me ![]()
Re: Weekday bunch ride - Flemingtonanyone still riding around this area? i have just moved to fleminton for the bayside suburbs and am looking for a few new training buddies
Re: Weekday bunch ride - Flemington
Well I'm from Newport and do training rides every mon/fri in the mornings. I usually do 100-125km ATM
Re: Weekday bunch ride - Flemington
I am based in the area and do a long ride on a Saturday morning and thinking about starting a medium ride on Tuesday mornings before work. I just commute to the city otherwise.
Re: Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonI'm also in Flemington, I see these guys riding quite a bit on both weekday and weekend mornings http://www.melbournecyclist.com/group/f ... ofsportfis I haven't worked out the courage to go along just yet, need to get a bit quicker! But worth checking out.
Re: Weekday bunch ride - Flemingtonsorry guys i missed your replys
ok i've settled down in to life now and am REALLY missing all my old regular riding/training buddies from back in the south east... i would be interested in setting up local group to do a bit of training with. is anyone interested? Rustec where did you see them and at what time?
Re: Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonI see them all over the place and time.
I'd be keen on a weekday ride and/or weekend ride. I current do a lap of Beach Rd to Frankston/Mornington on the weekend but wouldn't mind something smaller during the week.
Re: Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonBecause of my irregular working days I have sometimes time during the week as well. I like to ride between 50 to 150 km. depending on the legs I am having that day.
Re: Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonI usually do 100km
Re: Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonI do the FIS ride at least once a week, there's one every day now. Copied from melbournecyclist.com:
We ride every morning, leaving either from the Doutta Galla Hotel or from the western side of Ascot Vale railway station (The Crescent). Mon, Wed, Fri leave the pub at 6am for a flat spin to Williamstown, usu back around 7.00am for coffee somewhere along Pin Oak. Tues leaves the station at 6.00 for a rolling hills ride taking in Strathmore, Airport West, East Keilor and back for coffee in Moonee Ponds around 7.00 Thurs leaves the station at 6.00 and heads over to do a crit of the zoo, 5 laps, again finishing around 7 with coffee. Saturday morning leaves the pub at 7.00 for a roll down Beach Rd to Mordialloc via Fisherman's bend, about 80km or so, finishing with coffee at Di Bella in Nth Melb. The old boys can take a while to warm up but we can average 37-38kph from St kilda to Mordy and back. Sunday there's two options, one leaves at 6.30 from the pub - the Tour de Suburbs, heading over to Ivanhoe, Doncaster, Templestowe and coming back via Kew Boulie - and the 7.00am Handbagger's ride, which heads over to Ivanhoe but then turns back along Bell St to Pascoe Vale south before dropping down Melville Rd and running back into Carlton. Both rides finish with coffee at Brunetti (we all wear Brunetti jerseys for this one so we can snaffle a free coffee!) Haven't tried any of the weekend rides yet, but the others are pretty good, especially at the moment now that there's some light in the mornings...
Re: Weekday bunch ride - FlemingtonVery helpful, I will have to get myself out for one of those weekday rides!
