i rode Amy's Ride at geelong on monday and it was very hot. was meant to do 120 but opted for the 70. i finished the ride and been back to work and no pain or soreness at all. agree the key is to ride at your ability and never underestimate the heat. i had to take more and longer breaks and find a shade just to cool down and drench myself with water. the ride took heaps longer for me to finish but at least no injury despite the oppressive heat.

on tuesday i thought it was a great idea to go for a ride in the hills at 2pm (42deg in the shade) - about 2/3 of the way up norton summit i suddenly got really cold, was shivering and had goosebumps all over me

dont know exactly what happened but i know it was very bad, ive felt pretty average ever since
if i get killed while out on my bike i dont want a 'memorial ride' by random punters i have never met.

Riding in the hottest part of the day, and up hill.

Not a good idea

Heat is one, excessive UV exposure is another.
