Bike transportation

Hi all,
I'm off to Europe in May for 6 weeks - the first 3 weeks I'm doing a spot of riding before meeting the swimbo in Rome for the boring coupley touristy part of the trip.

I'm not keen on dragging my bike around Italy & France (we're flying out of Venice) for 3 weeks once I'm done riding it, and I'd like to arrange for it to be sent home.

My question for the forum is, has anyone here had an unaccompanied bike sent home, and if so, who did you use?
