SPEEDWELL DATE AND MODEL PLEASE?

Postby stevendavid75 » Wed Mar 19, 2008 10:58 am

hI all,
I was over at fixed.org having a look and some lucky person has picked up this speedwell for $5 and is just chasing some info on possible year of build, what it might have built from and whether it will take 700c,
anyway here it is.

Well, it's definitely a high quality track frame, probably fitted with 27x1" HP wheels going by the visible schraeder valves. 700C has the same diameter as the former tubular/singles wheels as would have been originally fitted, so will be perfect.

Hopefully though the owner will leave this fine bike as a track racer of it's era and not paint the thing matt black and fit 'bling' componentry.

The seat support is fitted wrongly, the bottom end should connect to the top tube, not the seat pillar. It's not necessary anyway given the micro-adjust seat pillar.

That stupid suicide brake lever has to go as well.

And to get the bike for $5.00 - I wish I was this lucky!
