There, fixed it for you.
Mr Pender is just dead wrong about the value of the missing link. Here is what he's stated
But the link seemed more like a road to nowhere when the Sun visited.
The track takes a rider from the intersection of Church Street and the M4 up to a pedestrian bridge near Burnett Street, Merrylands and then ends suddenly.
A cyclist must then navigate roads including either the Great Western Highway or Burnett Street before they are able to link up with another track.
The truth is that from the Burnett St bridge, there are off-road cycleways that extend all the way to the Cumberland Highway. From there you can go one south on cycleways (off-road) to the Prospect Canal Cycleway and Smithfield/Wetherill Park industrial areas that are poorly served by public transport. It is an important and valuable link in Western Sydney's cycling infrastructure.
The paths west from Burnett St bridge were used in the 2011 AGF Parramatta Pedal. Part of it were in poor shape - at least for the volume of cyclists in the event, but could be brought up to a good standard at relatively low cost.
