Which distance is everyone doing for the BUPA ride? 79kms is enough for me-so worried about the hills!

but about the wave, when registering they asked what average speed one could do and registered people in a particular 'wave'. all nominally leaving at 6.30 but of course they will send people off in waves, fastest first, slowest last, seems a bit unfair that really!

Nah, it's just a mass start.
They ask the faster riders to line up at the front etc, but it never happens.
Last time I rode, we got waved off early (15 min) by an enthusiastic police escort

Or perhaps it was those Power Bar lollies I ate at the rest stop just before. Great weather & a well organised event I thought. Spent all day being passed by much fitter looking guys & girls though.

I had a great ride, right at the back as per usual, averaged about 22 (had to ride the Baum which is always a bit slower than my Amira) and didn't find Menglers a problem which is good considering I'm heading over to Bright next for the classic,Weather conditions just about ideal, police were great, good support, ample water and food and a great atmosphere. Didn't see anyone I knew though, masses of people! My verdict, thoroughly enjoyable and to be recommended
