I figured whatever you replaced the 5's with would have to be pretty special MB. The remote lockout on the XCR-RL is a nice bonus but it's a little cheesy - I don't think the plastic housing the actuator sits in will last very long and the click on the handlebar switch isn't very positive (will be tricky with full finger gloves). I figure it's for decoration.

Here's my Mountain Bike, It's a 2011 Kona Cadabra, being my first Mountain Bike i think its great cause i have nothing to compare it to. The only changes ive made are a Selle Italia Saddle and Tubeless Tyres (Both Mod's made the world of difference)

I have a mainly road riding background but must say Mountain Biking is sooooo much more fun (but dont tell anyone around here, I notice its predominantly a Road riders forum).

Ive done a few XC races on it and as i said, I love it, Road riding is boring as compared to mountain biking and now my road riding is used only as training for my MTB'ing

That's got that trick spring loaded and moving lower swingarm pivot / lower shock mount hasn't it? What do they call it, Magic Link? I've read good things about it.

Yeah its Magic Link, the concept behind it is great and it works really well, the only problem and i dont know if the pictures show it is that you have to pack it with grease, it gets really squeeky Im hoping Kona come up with a different spring to eliminate it but until then, it just gets packed with grease.

There really is nothing better than hitting some singletrack with your mates

Maybe some Purple Extreme chain lube at the contact points would lessen the amount of trail grunge the spring would attract?

I find I periodically need to do that with my saddles where the rails contact the sockets in the saddle base. My son's bike was squeaking like a honeymooning couple on an old spring bed yesterday when I was riding around the local streets testing the shifter tune after swapping in a new SRAM cassette

Seat post is fine on its minimum set up - not hitting anything or does it hit at all. Not wanting to cut it cause Id like to keep it original as possible.

The Bianchi was purchased brand new on Ebay for no more than $1k. It was a bargain cause it retailed from $5k up.

Everything on the bike is original and its the full XT Build. It rides smooth and is the smoothest bike I've ridden. Not much on this bike on the net and I think its one of few in Australia.

Yeah, on a closer look I see that the post goes down through the middle of the gap between the link side plates.

With respect, I'd suggest it's still not a good look and few experienced riders would be comfortable with it like that. If you don't want to cut the seatpost maybe a NOS equivalent in a shorter length might be appropriate to ride with and the original can go back in when you put it back on the display racks.

If the saddle is the right height for the intended riding style (I'm guessing gravity-oriented) I don't think there are too many bricks-and-mortar shops that would have let a customer take delivery with the post like that out of liability concerns.
