Australian Cycling Forum Reopened

Postby AUbicycles » Tue Jan 31, 2012 1:03 am

Initially there may be some disruption during the move - typically this is resolved within 24 hours as servers update their records to point to the new server.

--

I kindly thank everyone for their patience and would like to share some info.

You would have probably noticed a small makeover, this is to celebrate the relaunch of the main BNA site - and to show that something is happening. While the impact on the forum is minimal, the main BNA site is so good... check it out as it has been rebuild from the ground up and has a fantastic basis to make it a more useful resource.

A significant change is a new server and CDN - which means speed.

I would like to thank the previous host, Adam of websitemanagers.com.au who has been kind and supportive to BNA. This is the first time ever that I move onto a different host without having a hosting issue.

Once everything is up and running then I will also acknowledge everyone who has supported to help make the relaunch possible.

Don't know if it is the work system, but the recviews and Tech section is slooooooooooooooooooow.

Painful even. After over a minute loading the page, i gave up.

Oh, and thanks.

Please check the note on the top right side - today we are moving to a new server and disruptions are expected.

So was it as fun for you as it was for me.... any withdrawal symptons?

In the last 2 days I have had 8 hours sleep - and it has all been for BNA.
The redelegation to the new server caused a bit of chaos, plus a number of issues related to performance were plaguing the site - to do with unique server configurations and settings. The forum has done admirably - though suffered offline times and general chaos.

Over the next few days we need to monitor and continue to fine tune and improve though the outlook is good.
If you spot any issues or errors in the forums or on the main site - I would ask you to report them here >

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you Christopher for the hard work, and also any one else involved in the project!

I appreciate the difficulties and the likely hiccups in coming days. It's all good!

"Don't lose" it now :D

Thanks Christopher for your work in this. 8 hour sleep ain't healthy. Hope you catch up on the zzzzzzs over the weeekend.

Tried logging in last night several times. Withdrawal symptoms mitigated by work instead...not a bad thing! Looks fine this morning.

That was not very fun... but hey, anyone need a 92 Gigabyte cache file.

The site was working and caching well... until caching got out of hand and we somehow ended up 92 Gig worth of cache files which obviously killed the site and infact made it difficult for us (techies) to access at all to look for problems and then resolve.

The good news - now that we know what has happened and are back online, we are looking into ensuring that this problem won't happen again (but please don't send anymore problems this way :)

Thanks for your patience.

Been there done that. Home computer okay; iPad okay on home and work networks; work computer not okay (neither browser working).

Hopefully the shaking and rocking back and forth will stop soon now that i can see the forum again :D .

I'm not surprised you managed to fill 92GB in a day with the amount of traffic on here.

Usually any access errors at the moment will be server issues. I can say there is still work we need to do - so until we get that sorted don't fret :)

Back at work, no workie from here. Any attempt to get to the site either directly or via google searches to random links results in the 'Dear BNA Members' page. Manually blowing away all cookies allowed me to get to the login page... And then back to "Dear BNA" yet again. Page info suggests these are current pages being generated by the forum software.
