Bicycle NSW fail to meet low standards

Postby find_bruce » Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:59 pm

There must be something special in the water at BNSW HQ- the latest email came addressed to "Dear First Name".

Sure it's a simple mistake, but it doesn't fill you with confidence re their organizational abilities.

I wouldn't hold a mail merge issue against them. Mail merge is a pain :-)

Until Alex Unwin disappears they'll not see my coin again though.

The best one I heard of was a job applicant receiving an empty email back with an attachment "reject applicant.doc". Not really necessary to open that one :?

As an ex-member Dear First Name convinced me I had made the right decision in becoming an 'ex'

Fragmentation of the cycling community in NSW will just further weaken any lobbying position for the cause. Get involved and not desert may be the better strategy. United we stand... How can anyone influence the board and management when one is not a member?

I despertely want to agree with you. All it would take is some evidence that BNSW was lobbying for the cause & I would support them.

I sent the membership address an email last Wednesday outling my concerns. Next day I got a reply saying my email had been forwarded to Alex Uniwin. What I have got from the panther is nothing. I don't expect a quick response, after all BFV was told to wait 9 months to find out.

What the debacle of the last AGM demonstrated is that the constitution is set up to resist change - special majority of 75% required to carry resolutions, only 6 board members elected by the membership, 2 per year to 3 year terms. The other 3 are appointed by the board, again to 3 year terms.

If you want to have a laugh, in their reasons for not posting the complete documentation of the resolution proposal at the lat AGM, the Board response was

This will be a major priority for us going forward and we’d like to see much more interaction, consistent with the separation of responsibilities between the Executive and the Board
They've done a great job of that haven't they

"going forward"

Again?

Btw, am now on CA's mailing list and their newsletters strike me as relevant. Any chance they could do a takeover of BNSW? The only good thing about BNSW is their HQ is in SOP.
