"How the Dutch Got Their Bike Paths"

I cant watch the video until tonight at home, but it would appear to be a potted history of Dutch cycling activism, regional politics guiding cultural change, and forward thinking that still isn't seen anywhere else.

Result of the "Stop Kindermoord" campaign, in tandem with the 1973 Oil Crisis. Ironic that the Australian response to the 'fear' of child deaths on the roads is to remove children from the roads, into the back seat of the SUV, where they are at much greater risk of obesity and all the remainng cyclists are under greater threat as well

I am surprised it had nothing to do with "ovens", but the limited list of things linked in my brain to the word "dutch" short circuits any sensible commentary.
So we get the leaders we deserve and we elect, we get the companies and the products that we ask for, right? And we have to ask for different things. – Paul Gilding
but really, that's rubbish. We get none of it because the choices are illusory.
