Mangrove Road - Narara - Central Coast
Postby snedden9485 » Fri Oct 23, 2009 9:44 am
Anyone done this climb? I had a ride after work yday and had to do some strength efforts, so i decided on Mangrove Road. I had driven it before at work, but hadnt ridden it. Well, its quite a pinch thats for sure. Just looked at it on mapmyride.com and it appears the steep section is ~20% gradient!

Still finding all the steep roads Todd! This one sounds interesting. Should the old fellow put it on his "to do" list? Where exactly is it from Sydney? You would have enjoyed our big day out to Jenolan Caves back in November.BadBlood wrote:Did that climb today, it gets to 24%

It's a bugger. And being that there's no centre line to follow round (almost) blind corners, it's hard on the brakes all the way down too.
from 17m elevation to 160m over about 1300m. It's here 33°23'14.52"S 151°20'40.93"E

Last time I drove down that hill, someone had been kind enough to paint directional arrows on one of the incoming bends.
It's a very demanding hill to go up, if my car struggles I know I'm not worthy

Yeah Sandy, just trying to get my body to look like it was 2 years ago and steep climbs are the way to go.NotFlyingScot wrote:Still finding all the steep roads Todd! This one sounds interesting. I did the climb yesterday and it's a beast. Yes there's a section of 23-24% but 700m at 13% with 200m at 16% is bad enough.
