Well Greg made a declaration this morning that would bring a tear to the eye of a hard man like Bandito. Having studied the parcours for next weekend Greg stated that there was "nothing too steep" involved and it would be "an easy few days" and that he "wouldn't even bother putting the 28 on the back". So he's going to Jindy with 39/25 as his low gear  More power to you I say :)

P.S I know Greg is a man of his word so there's no way he'll put the 28 on now

I know I'm going to look like a silly duffer, but I've had to rethink that. Just as I was about to melt the 28 cassette down to a paper weight (since I don't need it to ride up any hills- the 25 will do) I realised that it is an 11-28. Unfortunately my other cassette is 12-25. So I'm worried that I'm going to lose too much at the fast end and will fall too far behind on the decents. I suck at decending and need all the help I can get.

So I might *have* to take the 28 after all   . I'll just have to try to stay away from the lower gears. Promise...

PS And NO I can't just swap the 11 and 12 gears around. Uneven wear and all that...

roadies come with 28s ???

the XT 10 speed mtb groupsets go to 36 i think.
So if you have a compact like chucky 40/28 its almost a 1:1 with the big chainring... :P

There's been a bit of discussion about travel arrangements, but nothing solid yet. We're all guys, so we'll leave it to the last minute no doubt

At this stage all we know is Spiz is taking most of the bikes and Bandito will need to take the rest. Haven't heard from Bandito mind you, so I hope he's OK with that

We'll need to take one more car and that will come down to a knife fight between me and Sandy. Do you want to go in a quiet, comfortable car or a really noisey, reasonably comfy one?

me likes the noisy one that occasionally sneezes.. :P
so should I take the bike to Spizas ? Meeting up with Don Thur night - might be easier for me to bring both the Cervelo & CellVello (borrowed Dons MTB on the weekend) to Spizas thursday night ???

Looks like transport just about fixed. Jeff will take Lou and Chuck plus their bikes.
I can drop my bike over to Spiza for him to take down in the van sometime this week. That would mean Ehly going with Spiza in the van along with their own bikes, my bike and Don's bike.
I can pick up Greg and his bike Friday morning. I'm getting a new hat so I can drive in the right hand lane all the way to Canberra at 90 kph and Greg can make sure I drive on to the expressway slip roads on the correct carraigeway!
How does this suit everyone? Just need to sort out pick up time amongst ourselves. Suggest we want to be on the road by 7.00, it's 450 km to Jindabyne from here and I assume we want to get in a leisurely roll up to Charlottes Pass when we get down there and still have time for shopping and dinner etc

Nice work Sandy. I vote for you organising everything next year :-)

I'll just say it quietly, but the weather forecast for this weekend has improved.

That's a bummer Donny  Doesn't sound good, but I hope you make a super fast recovery.

OH MY GOD youse are killing me with all this talk of pissant gearing for riding up a few little hills. Gunna kick it old school on the ceevelo & run it 10 speed like my first racer. 11-23 10 speed cassette up back & 1 chainring up front. Just frisbeed the 39 onto the workbench which just leaves the 53 up front hehe  Great for uphills & downhills who da thought. See if Don stopped riding 27 cassettes & got some meat on his chicken legs from bigger gears he would be alright when pens fall of his desk onto his foot  Hope you get better Don.

Damm! I would love to join you with my compact crank and all but I'm washing my hair(on my legs). Damm that hair!!

Hey bmxbandito!! I've hung onto that old Giant like you told me to. You remember the one that you said not to update because of my riding ability!! Yeh that one. Dont worry those words of wisdom did not scar me in any way......
