Re: MT Wellington Challengeis the event 300 competitor limit reached often?
Just an ol' man, riding an ol' bike.... every hill feels like Alpe d'Heuz....
Re: MT Wellington ChallengeCheck out the results page.
They told me I could effectively rock up on the day, but it's best to pre-register.
Re: MT Wellington Challengethis will be easier than the run leg of the summer survival challenge.........................god i hope so
hmmmmmmm......i better register when do we stop for coffee???
Re: MT Wellington ChallengeCustom 30-12 cassette made, installed, tested and working!
I AM NOT A CLIMBER!!! ![]()
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
Says it all really Honestly, if you make it to the top, you've done bloody well!
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
not according to strava when do we stop for coffee???
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
Sorry to disappoint Rob but here is how i did it. Ground the head off the metal plugs holding my 9 speed(yes 9 speed) mtn bike cassette together Extracted the 30t sprocket Slotted the 9 speed 30t sprocket onto the free hub cassette spindle Fitted some spacers using the trial and error method to get the spacing close enough I had various width spaces lying around. Fitted the remainder of the 10 speed 27-12 cassette, omitting the 15. All working with a standard Dura Ace 7900 derailuer. ![]()
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
You complain when its too hot (Sundays Summer Survival) and now when it's a little rainy. You should be just focusing on loctiting your seat bolt(s) ![]()
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
is that legal? when do we stop for coffee???
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
TRUE, so how many KOMs are you holding ATM Dogga? Next he will tell us 'he is not a sprinter'.
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
Somewhere in the world, a Shimano engineer is twitching. Still young enough to win the Tour de France
Re: MT Wellington Challenge"Trial and error". Busting your guts out of the saddle during a bad moment up the mount is not a good place to find that your "trial" is in "error".
On the other hand, I admire those prepared to have a go at bicycle mechanics, rather than running to the lbs with every little rattle. Best wishes.
Re: MT Wellington ChallengeI cant take the credit for the idea. Ray Appleby put me onto it.
Master6, the idea behind the 30 is so that i dont have to get out of the saddle Barry, I hope so! In fact I had better do some research, don't want to jeopardise my record attempt. ![]()
Re: MT Wellington ChallengeRey has something similar on his bike from memory!
Now I maybe riding up the Mtn to watch the race unfold and Ben Dybal from Genesis breaking Portes time...well if the weather is perfect. ![]()
Re: MT Wellington ChallengeWhich one is Ben Dybal? And is that Nearle with a handlebar mo?
![]() Im in. I figure if I can ride 160km in the rain/cold I can ride 21km up a hill
Re: MT Wellington ChallengeIt must be great having a Cat 1 climb at your door step
I also hope Ben Dyball smashes it ![]() FPR Ragamuffin
Re: MT Wellington Challengei love living so close to the Mt, i was home, showered and drinking coffee before most riders had got back to their cars hehehe
when do we stop for coffee???
Re: MT Wellington Challenge
I only recognised it was you just before you started. Thought I'd catch up afterwards and you were gooonnne. I hung around, coz the family came down to see me. It was a good day. For all those who chickened out: the weather wasn't that bad! Sure, I couldn't see much once I hit the tree line If I didn't pack a jumper and raincoat in the musette, I might be singing a different tune though.

Re: MT Wellington ChallengeThe times are up!
Official Times (PDF) Would be nice if it was in order of finish time, not race number though.
