2012 Racing Season

Postby Chuck » Sun Feb 26, 2012 12:37 pm

The bigger races will have their own threads, but maybe one for the smaller races??

Feels like the season has really started now with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad having been run and won overnight....

Big Tom must have been licking his chops at the prospect of a three up sprint, nice job by Vanmarcke 8)

Haussler might finally be moving towards the form of 2009.

I like the story of how Sep stood up in the team meeting and asked the team to ride for him.
Woohoo pro season is finally under way!.

The way he rode off Hayman and Van Avermart (sp) was amazing. The images of Fletcher trying to hang on are pretty amazing. I have always wanted to be that good, that you can drop people on the flats. Given the number of attacks he made, a totally deserving winner. Kurne up tonight.

On Cav. This is not meant too seriously. Other riders should focus on winning the race, not getting Cav’s wheel. If they don’t get it game over. That means Cav has pretty much already won.
Kurne, apparently feeling rubbish and still wins. Andre and Renshaw complain about other riders.

Agree totally. Was disappointing to hear Renshaw say when he lost the wheel he gave up. Everyone knows he has an awesome kick why would you want to be on his wheel when you are already 1 bike length behind, I dont believe Renshaw will get around him from his wheel he has to find other ways to win.

While it wasn't happening for Renshaw, it was happening for his Australian team mate Michael Matthews :D

So when will GreenEdge show up. I get the feeling, that with all the young'uns focussing on the Olympics this year, that the team will struggle to do much of anything.

A review of the weekends racing addresses in part what you're talking about (point 2)....

It's early days but there'd be a fair bit of pressure on Goss. I hope he responds.

This is the first season I've had Eurosport - I'm dreading it. Not only do I have zombie month when le tour is on, now I have zombie autumn when all the other stuff is on as well.

...but Paris-Nice, I won't be able to not watch it!
So we get the leaders we deserve and we elect, we get the companies and the products that we ask for, right? And we have to ask for different things. – Paul Gilding
but really, that's rubbish. We get none of it because the choices are illusory.

I usually finish work at 1am (11am if it's an early finish), so TDF and now the whole cycling season is on at the perfect time. I can see the record me button getting an extensive workout, and I'm going to memorise the eurosport channel number to program in to the tv's at work.

foxtel iq is brilliant - i just looged onto the foxtel website, did a keyword search on "cycling" and set everything to record in the next fortnight :)

i record everything and watch it when i get home from work. During Le Tour you have to avoid all forms of media and put your colleagues on notice not to give the results away. Other races are find though.

 Don't forget to set the extra 30min record time for each programme, otherwise your classics season will be filled with Woman's Tennis

IQ is brilliant. I just set to record the program after as well (Eurosport are bad at timing), get up a bit earlier in the morning, make coffee and hey presto. Love it.

Norbs,

Check out steephill and cyclingfans, there are always links (to the usual places) to get Eurosport feeds.

Nice to see the Schlecks ITT coming along. Although July is a while away, a minute lost over 9.4kms must be worrying for them.

So is there any way to get Eurosport without Foxtel's packages that I don't want ?

Never mind, think I worked it out from Foxtel site. Seems like I can get it for $45/month + $100 install. Bit steep for this black duck.

Have I got it right ?

When does Contadors' suspension end? Is he back in time for the Vuelta?
