PMM Real Estate Cycle Challenge
Postby inverS » Mon Feb 27, 2012 10:07 am
As I saw a topic started for the Mt. Wellington ride on Sunday, I thought I"d start an official one for the PMM Real Estate Cycle Challenge as well.
By now everyone knows of the clash, nice to be spoilt for choice - just not on the same day would be good.

After many years of on / off riding, this will be my first 'official' riding event, so I'm really excited and pumped! I'm just tackling the 25, nothing too big for the first outing..
Is there anyone else from BNA that is coming along? Any tips and tricks to keep in mind? I'm used to riding my myself, not in events as such.
Cheers

My simple and only tip for the ride is to stay at the back or towards the back of the bunch for the ride over the bridge. As with most rides that aren't races there is a fair bit of nervous energy going on amongst the "contenders" so staying out of their way makes the ride much more enjoyable.
Apart from that - smile, wave and enjoy - are the secrets that most forget.

Yep, I'll be there. Not sure if I'm doing the 50 or 75 yet. My first go at this sort of thing was the Tour de Norfy last year and I loved it, despite a flat tyre.inverS wrote:Hi everyone

Forget the "clash mentality". Almost every weekend active people are offered a choice of triathlon, running, STCC, CA racing in the north, and various other concoctions of events. Pick one and go for it.
If you need to have a concern, have a look around the shopping centres and spare a thought for 50% of the population so burdened by girth that they are incapable of participation in any of the "clashes".
Give me clashes every day.
How fortunate we are.
See you on Sunday

Still 24 degrees, so it's not as if it's going to be COLD and wet...
